This seems positive? I hope it’s being well managed but it sounds like some jobs!

I wonder if the TIMING of this decision has been pushed forward to try and counter all the news about the hack?

Like, was meant for 2026 or something but the board has concluded ‘For god’s sake get some good news out there, the shareholders are getting frisky – blimin’ announce it now’.

If that’s the case, fair enough – can’t blame them.

The same company that closed multiple stores…

I’ll never understand M&S’s business or financial stance. Seems to be ran by idiots.

Are they going all in on food at the moment? I hate that my local branch is being converted from a department store to just a food hall

  6. Waitrose and the biggest M&S food within 20 metres of each other… Surrey life

  7. So, for as long as I have been aware(20 years), M&S has always been on the brink of crisis only to go 5 have things pick up. It is really particular to them. Lots of other retails are far more stable.

  8. >The latest stores announced include two 18k square foot food halls in Abingdon and Cannock, expected to open in late 2025. In 2026, the company aims to open an 18k square foot food hall in Farnham, a 22k square foot food hall in Godalming – its largest standalone food store to date – and a 16k square foot food hall in Northampton.

So of these announced you have 4 in the south and 1 in the Midlands
