    Watch out ladies.

Nigels had his fun with the Europeans, now he’s after your ovaries.

  2. Of course they would. It’s another wedge issue spouted from farage that has been imported from the US.

Ironically Farage is likely the avenue religious fundamentalism enters the UK.

24 weeks is fine, Farage should focus on the important things (mass immigration)

  4. I’d actually agree that 24 weeks is very late for it to be legal.

But I sure as shit wouldn’t trust Reform to change the law in a positive way. It’s pretty obvious he’s got some American conservatives whispering into his ear about this one.

So i’m more than happy for the law to stay as it is. Fucking with it will only cause a huge shitshow of a political fight for no real gain.

On the plus side maybe it will turn some reform voters away from reform I guess.

He’s making a big mistake talking about this. It’s not an issue in the UK, and we don’t want it to become one.

The only reason the abortion conversation should be reopened is if it’s to *reduce* restrictions, not increase them.

Farage’s logic for changing the time limit makes no sense.

  7. BusyBeeBridgette on

24 weeks is a decent place to limit. Almost all abortions take place within the 8-12 week period. Those needing an abortion by the 20 week mark, typically, are for medical or health reasons.

  8. Farage seems to want to import all the American politics. No doubt he’ll be out railing against the ‘woke mind virus’ and whatever else Trump is ranting about.

If the media want to get a grip on this idiot, they need to stop talking about him. But then again, our media is 95% right wing.

Farage is nothing but a mouthpiece for the US religious right, or he’s pretending to be for money. Which is arguably worse.

  11. No one here wants this. There is a reason most of the protesters you see standing outside clinics (or the exclusion zone) are Americans. At least they are in London.

  12. Foreign interference from the USA ought to be taken as seriously as if it were from Russia or some other hostile power

  13. Electronic_Cream_780 on

Is he going to have a single novel thought, or does he just intend to import shit American ideas?

  14. Electrical_Ad5155 on

Tbf to farage he was asked this at his press conference right at the end and he didn’t say he would limit it to weeks earlier, he just said in his own opinion it is too late and also stated that everyone else’s opinion on it on stage (load of reform speakers there) was just as justified. I don’t think he has any intention of changing it. He’s too smart for that, he was just asked his opinion

  15. I thought we’d agreed that unless you have a medical qualification or a uterus you don’t get to open your trap about abortion?

  16. Christian-Metal on

I don’t think he has considered that this could lose him a lot of support.

Abortion isn’t a toxic issue here in the UK – and that’s because the overwhelming majority of people accept it as a perfectly normal choice a woman is able to make for herself.

There is absolutely no public outcry regarding the current legislation around abortion, so why even go there? Obviously he has been influenced by too many of his American Trumpian counterparts. UK and USA politics have zilch in common.

  17. Farage is bad for women? Ya don’t say. It almost seems that he is a mini Donald trump, without the charm (nearly vomited writing that)

  18. I look forward to Reform supporters deciding this is an issue just because Farage’s financiers have told them so.

  19. For anyone saying the UK will be taken over by religious fundamentalist and pointing at Islam in general, check what is happening in the USA and look who is funding Reform.

  20. This is MAGA UK. You can all see with your own eyes how much damage this shit is doing to American society. Reject their culture wars bullshit here in the UK.

  21. We got rid of the crazies when they went to America we don’t want them back…

  22. What is it with these middle aged men . They are obsessed with women’s reproductive health. Why are they so obsessed about abortions. This is a health issue and not a political one.

  23. EquivalentTomorrow31 on

Are there any US ultra Christian nationalist views he isn’t importing?

  24. Nigel Farage is a racist misogynistic hypocritical scumbag.

The fact that his opinion on abortion is entertained, let alone reported on, is a fucking outrage.

If Farage ever got close to having any say in what women do to their own bodies, I would get my pitchfork and march straight to Clacton….oh no wait he doesn’t actually live there does he?

  25. SnooOpinions8790 on

The rationale for the 24 weeks was that was the point of viability

The NHS will quite routinely try to save babies from 22 weeks these days.

So despite the downvotes I will get I do actually think Parliament should debate a possible change to 22 weeks. That does not mean I think it should be changed but I do think that they should debate it. I actually think the democratic mandate for our abortion laws should be actively renewed after discussion periodically and this would be part of that ongoing process. I think there are problems with the change and on balance think we should keep it as it is but that does not mean it should not be discussed in parliament.

But its hyperbole to say that a shift from 24 to 22 weeks would be catastrophic. Lets just leave the hyperbole out of this please. There are problems with it (especially with the timing of certain tests) but we and the Netherlands are sort of outliers on permitting abortion so late and the rest of Europe is not a catastrophe for women.

  26. Species1139 on

Farrages plans on health would have catastrophic concequences for everyone, full stop.

Why aren’t they pulling his health insurance plans apart.

Why are people being quiet about his pay to live subscription service, because that’s all private health insurance is.

  27. There are no issues with the current system and no need to change it.

American evangelicals can fuck all the way off.

  28. Every now and again im amazed that this man has managed to pull the traction he has. But then you see how he’s pushed down our throats at every given oppurtunity by our wonderful media, and as a result, what were once the ramblings of a nutjob have become realisitic policy once him and his band of crooks eventually get elected.

  29. I wish the media would stop giving this witless mouthpiece for American / Russian billionaires a platform.

His opinions belong exclusively to the highest bidder and he’s unfortunately very good somehow at whipping the unsound of mind into a frenzy.

He was one of the chief engineers behind the irrefutable disaster that is Brexit which will take generations to recover from and they continue to promote his nonsense.

  30. PidginEnjoyer on

Worth saying, the UK are outliers by allowing **elective** abortion up to 24 weeks.

The vast majority of Europe who no doubt most posters here are desperate to rehitch ourselves back to, have their elective limit at 12 weeks gestation.
