What is the steel man for not doing welfare reform when claims and costs are going through the roof?
Do we cut something else? Raise borrowing or taxes in perpetuity?

Close tax loopholes down, go after the super rich, tax the social media giants massively.
But no, penalise the poor and vulnerable.
Useless “Labour” government.

That which we called austerity by any other name would cut as deep

Unfortunately a significant percentage of the population appear to want these cuts to go through as after decades of vile television shows, the tabloid media along and many politicals and TV personalities telling people that disabled people are all cheats.

Even more so, because they’re targeting specifically at what I’d call “the working disabled”, those with moderate disabilities who are still able to hold jobs with a low level of support.
Withdraw that support and you’ll see lots of people unable to continue in employment, making their personal economic circumstances much much worse and doing not one thing to save money in the social security budget. In fact an unemployed person is much more expensive.
