Satellite megaconstellations threaten radio astronomy observations, expert warns

Radio astronomy is important but obv we’re going to prioritize bringing internment access to people in remote parts of the world and military capabilities first.

We should focus on moving our astronomical observations to space.

The same thing happens with literally any device that emits radio waves.

Cell phones, navigation satellites, reflections off the moon, a microwave oven in the breakroom, aircraft flying overhead, a gasoline car driving by, etc.

The thing is, we can control those variables and where they transmit, including LEO constellations.

Ban cell phones, restrict satellite transmission when over X location, isolate the microwave oven, no-fly zones, mandate diesel cars or just ban cars altogether.

It’s not impossible, we’ve done it before.
