  1. About bloody time. I’m surprised we put up with them undermining our borders for so long.

That’s good because I could’ve sworn we paid them £500m to do just that already

  3. I don’t know why people are so surprised.  Weirdly the French don’t want to deal with the problem and it’s much easier to make it our problem.  If the roles were reversed people here would be saying “nah mate not our problem, let the frogs sort it out”

RW press is losing things to moan about by the day.

Unless they begin just making shit up again, of course.

  5. >Until now, the French have refused to intervene in the water because they claim maritime laws prevent them from taking action that could put lives at sea at risk.

Just do what the RNLI has been doing for years: get them out of the water. But, instead of taxiing them to the UK, take them back to France.

  6. Sorry, Telegraph, do you mean to say that the Labour government has convinced France to intercept migrant boats?

Can’t wait to see all the Facebook profiles with reform plc flags as their display pic acknowledging this as a positive step…

    Ahahaha “finally”?

So what did we pay them for before? A batch of baguettes?

    Oh man…that’s so rich!

  9. Yea right, they don’t want them stuck in France and the easiest way to do that is do a shit job?

Only up to 300 meters remember. So, they can turn a blind eye and wait and then go “oh merd, too bad” each time. It’s a joke!

If we didn’t have Brexit this wouldn’t be the problem it is.

Crossings numbers where much smaller before.

Blame the people who voted to leave who made it worse. Not those left holding the can.

It shouldn’t be overlooked what a stunning and rare achievement it is to get a Frenchman to actually do some work, so let’s wait and see.

  14. The French would literally do anything to make sure they get access to our fishing waters, as seen here. Starmer is a terrible negotiator.

Great, looking forward to no boats landing this summer then /sarcasm

Ye I agree with my missus not to have a cigarette when I go to the pub with my mates. However I do and just say ‘Ah the craic was good so we were in the mood. ‘

The UK should have been fining the French government for every illegal migrant that crosses, (the fees for housing the illegal migrant while they are here, admin fees, the fees for transporting the migrant back to France and a penalty on top). France would soon change it’s tune. 100k per? 5000 let through and all of a sudden they owe us money.
