    1. with all respect, you are not just paying for a basic salad, and you can’t compare what it costs at home with what it costs to eat out – and also, if the price is too much, you have options to not buy and get food from somewhere else.

    2. It isn’t cheap, but in my experience this a common price for a salad in any restaurant these days?
Depends on which country or even city you live I guess.

    3. It’s the same story all over Europe, my friend. We lost half our net worth in an instant thanks to inflation, while billionaires saw theirs multiply twentyfold. But hey, as long as we can vent on social media and like each other’s complaints, there’s no need to take to the streets—it’ll all magically get better, right?

    4. Same on Crete now. Basic salads are coming to around €8-9 Euros now in some areas. Increasingly, I now spend based on nutritional & calorific content for €, with choices. It didn’t seem long ago when salads were around €4.50, but actually, that was some time ago. It just shot up by €0.50 each year I came, rapidly, to where we’re around €9 for a salad.

    8. I know at least 3 places in ST Julian where you can have insane value for a salad :
-any kebab : a Large salad is 6-9eur and you can feed a family for 3 days with it.
-The beer garden (just an example, most of small places like this do the same) : simple pasta tuna salad, around 5e. (Don’t expect a fancy grilled Tuna fillet salad obviously )

Yes in malta junk food is same or cheaper than healthy food.. Thats why we are the second fastest in Europe and the government what’s to solve this problem by giving ozempic injection for free 😂 😂

    10. This is what people keep voting for. They wanted to sell the country to tourists and now they got tourist prices.

    11. Meanwhile I pay 18.50 for a chinese buffet, I ate three full plates of various items, Fuck salads lol

I recently opened a place and I do a greek and asian salad for 8 each. It costs 2 euros for me to make either one or less.

There’s no way to justify the costs other than greed. Buying wholesale is not very expensive, only expensive for the consumer on the end of the chain.
