Inexperienced newly elected Councillors put in charge of massive budgets in critical areas of council work, what could possibly go wrong.
I hate to be that guy but why do they look exactly how I would expect them to look?
This is frightening on a biblical scale. Anyone with any experience of the complexity of delivering public services in such an accountable environment as this would run a mile if they were offered these posts.
Unless they are highly qualified to fill them (they’re not).

The party of common sense indeed… these two guys don’t even look like they’ve even pulled a girl or boyfriend yet, far less experienced the life lessons of parenthood and accumulated a decades worth of business, budget and management experience..
It dawns on me I don’t know anything about local government. I certainly couldn’t tell you what my councillor does, what a councillor even can do, what party they’re from, term length, salary, hours.
I bet 90% of people would say the same.

Fucking what? I know uni students do work other jobs for income during studies, but how can he even balance two years of uni left, and deal with an incredibly complex social work service?
He does realise if something goes wrong, how much scrutiny and much of a shit storm will land on him?
My suspicion? These were paper candidates plucked with the aim of coming second and making a wave, without realistically thinking they’d win and now they have, will find out Reform does not have experience nor expertise to govern.
I reckon they’ll resign before before they finish their uni course.

Loved that interview where they were interviewing young people at a reform convention and they didn’t have a clue what reform was, what any of the policies were, how they would work etc

I think for Reform it is a win win. If they turn it around and make it a success, that reflects well on them. If things go to the bin, they can blame it on other factors and wash their hands to it. I think the latter is the likely reason they will choose when the time comes.
And as the polls have shown, no amount of links to Russia etc will reduce their numbers. Farage could be on the cliffs of Dover and livestreaming himself Murder people on the boats coming over and it’ll be seen as a win Ws in the chat. For the vast majority of this voting block, even if the final solution was considered and enacted the supporters wouldn’t bat an eye lid. Humans are fantastic at justifying things to themselves. Perhaps the people getting locked up and gassed ala the Jews in WW2 will get dehumanised first.

Shit like this pisses me off for one huge reason. I’m a professional in my mid 30s. I have had loads of jobs, worked my way up and learned lots of skills and knowledge. BUT I still don’t think I’m qualified to progress in my role yet. The fact is I probably could do it, but I don’t feel prepared or ready or experienced enough.
How do absolute idiots with no life experience or knowledge or skills or *anything* of value not see a job like this and think ‘wow, I am NOT qualified for this’
It’s the same in the US and when the Tories were in power. Just the absolute most stupid, un inquisitive, lazy, ignorant people doing jobs they’re far from qualified to even apply for – let alone do. The fact they take these jobs is proof enough that they shouldn’t be doing them.
If I can see how plainly unqualified they are it is scary that they don’t see it themselves.
The second we make it that MP’s and councillors must have formal qualifications to whatever they are overseeing is the second the country gets better.
Im sick of furniture salesmen becoming the minister of defence or some twat who learned Greek mythology becoming the PM.

This is why I don’t understand why the main parties care about reform right now. No chance by next election they can field quality candidates without imploading and the candidates they’ve currently got screwing things up.

This is the issue with new parties that spring up, they often have to select candidates to fill seats and not based on any actual knowledge and experience.
With the established parties they at least generally have candidates that have been councillors previously and have some idea of how it all works, not saying they get it right.
Yes, this is far from an ideal situation, however as a new party, they ought to be given the opportunity to prove themselves and then be judged at the next election.
It’s a tough call for the electorate in the UK right now, as large swathes feel let down by the main parties and then turn to fringe parties; however if the fringe parties get into actual government then the country would be in uncharted territory.
It’s certainly an interesting time and I do worry if Reform either wins the next election or before the official opposition.
Imagine if we were invaded while these chumps were in charge.

I’m all for younger politicians more in touch with the world but what the fuck is this?
On one hand I’ve been saying for ages we need younger people taking an interest and active roles in government. On the other hand not like this, god please not like this.
I personally think all Councillors should have worked in the private sector prior to becoming Councillors (especially ones with portfolios). We need Councillors with life and work experience not professional politicians. However, if these 2 young men had been Labour, Lib Dem or Green would anyone be complaining? I can’t help but think their political party is more of an issue than their age but perhaps I’m just being cynical?

Honestly though, everything public is a shambles.
Leadership is all elected, so often comes with 0 exp. This is a prime example.
Junior workers are are 23 year olds who accept extremely low salaries because it comes without the pressures of the real econemy.
Senior management of those junior workers are slow, unimpressive junior workers who just stick around for 30 years.
So fuck it, throw a 19 year old edgelord at it. Only way is up.
