This composite image took about 225k photos to produce, using one telescope dedicated for detail and one dedicated for color. The lit side of the moon is a 75 panel mosaic, which allowed me to make the final image around 300 megapixels (including negative space). I used so many images to conquer the effects of the atmosphere on the details, while giving me such a strong signal-to-noise ration I was able to bring out all the subtle color in the moon’s regolith without artifacts. It’s interesting to compare this to the photos I was sharing here when I first started posting 6 years ago- as my techniques have evolved quite a bit as I learned the craft!

  2. I’d love a print of one of these someday. Do you sell digital images that people can make their own with, or prints themselves? Thanks!

  3. Absolutely stunning. Things like this make me appreciate the opportunity I have to exist.

Okay this has to be a joke I zoomed in on my samsung s23 and was able to pan around and observe with no hiccups no way you can lag for look at an image in 2025 😭

  5. I wonder if anyone will make one of these without messing with the color sliders in post. It’s a shame to see a moon that looks nothing like the one above us in EVERY SINGLE high rez photo

  6. This is beautiful and you’re right, it did crash my device. Why is that? Too much detail?

Fantastic photo and commitment to your passion. Thank you for sharing, its always a pleasure to view your work and skill. Can you go into detail regarding the color? It looks quite brown, which, as far as rocks are concerned, seems … off per se. Given its composition of primarily basalt and anorthite I’d expect a range from dark to light greys on the moon to dominate rather than brown.

Since building my gaming computer a year ago, I have lost most of my gaming enthusiasm, but I would never have guessed it would be a boon in watching astronomy pictures instead xD Amazing picture, thank you so much for sharing!

  9. I can always tell your work over others. Such high quality and always incredible.

  10. Bro, you just gave me the BSOD on my PC. And I have 64gb ddr5 ram, RTX 4000 card and Intel i-9!

Jk. It worked fine on my now obsolete gaming pc. Very epic! Can almost see the mars rover. Lol.

  12. This is insane, looks great and I’ve never had an image lag spike my phone before

  13. How? My phone did crash, this shouldn’t be possible. I thought it had to be bait to get me to zoom in

  14. I absolutely love the images some of you are posting here. They are stunning.
