    > have been forced to steal back their own vehicle after police were ‘too stretched’ to investigate.

They didn’t steal their own car, they picked it up from wherever the reprobate who stole it left it.

Why didn’t they collect their car, if they knew where it was?

Yes, report to police too. But, c’mon, you have the keys. Too busy that day?

You can’t expect the police to deal with everything. They have a 18 man team going in to a flat this morning to raid 4 cannabis plants.

  4. Someone’s Range Rover was stolen from the golf club car park. They had a tracker and an app which displayed the location – they phoned the police and reported it, and the police told them to go and get it back if they could see where it was!

  5. Politically charged are more important than stolen cars. Come on. Give plod a break.

  6. Someone’s gonna get killed doing this, then we’ll have to have an expensive public inquiry to tell us the bloody obvious about why it happened.

  7. police always have enough resources to turn up at the village fetes and stand in the sun all day , no chance of having to do any work there , oh and visits to portugal

Parking the car a few miles away and leaving it for a day or two in case it has a tracker is standard procedure for criminals.

The police saying ‘it will take a few days for us to get around to picking it up’ and people deciding to do it themselves is also quite common.

Given the car is insured, it might have been safer to arrange recovery via the insurance company.

Although they didn’t think to wear gloves, I doubt police would find prints.

  9. People talk about the social contract in this country being broken but the literal country itself is broken, so what do people expect?

Always able to turn up for hurtful comments on social media though, get a longer sentence than most thieves too!

  11. Wouldn’t surprise me if the thief reported them and they got a visit ASAP for stealing it back.

“Oh so you admit to STEALING, it back? Straight to court for you and another good stat on the books boys.”.

Lifetime criminal with 100s of convictions? Too much effort.
