      Submission statement: According to this investigation, people around the world say their friends and loved ones are becoming obsessed with ChatGPT and other chatbots and spiraling into intense, delusional mental health crises as the bots affirm and elaborate on disordered fantasies about conspiracies, powerful entities “unlocked” from the AI, and much more. People are sliding into intense personal crisis and even homelessness, and the AI is even telling people diagnosed with schizophrenia to go off their medication

      These websites treating ai fear like a money printer lol. How many times am I gonna see futurism.com recycle this same headline?

      It just smells like BS sensationalism.

      I can imagine that being an issue. I don’t really understand why anyone is using it at all, ethically. I’m sure there are some exceptions for certain creation/research purposes, but aside from being a dumb kid just messing around, I don’t think anyone should be using it for SO many reasons. Not sure how this isn’t the default. I suppose we continue to ignorantly create out horrible future by leaning into it.

      Should probably deregulate it, make localized regulation illegal, and just see what happens

      Is that just a different manifestation for people who would have had delusional disorders or does this article claim an increase in these cases?

      Before chatGPT you could google to find a blog post or an article telling you to get off your meds, how is that significantly different?
