And this is way more and more people are buying air conditioning units.

1,000 heat deaths are more than offset by the 8,000 or so cold deaths than wouldn’t happen given cold kills 8x more than heat.
And anything “might” happen. I’ll happily take a bet that the UK never sees 45 degrees.

If we get 45 degree weather I think our infrastructure might collapse. I don’t think it’s built for extreme temperatures at either end of the spectrum

Fuck offf.. sorry, just wanted to add my gut reaction here, sat in a paddling pool n eating icepops before it gets much hotter for the rest of the week

If temperatures in the UK stay at 35+ for over 3 days in a roll we can officially apply for refuge status in Canada.

We should have been future proofing for warmer UK climates since like 2000. 2025 and we’re doing nothing

Just in time for a government under Farage that claims the climate crisis is a hoax!

I wonder if anyone who actually thinks climate change isn’t real actually exists.
My moneys on they don’t actually believe it themselves.

When it was 38c a couple of years ago. I had to go home from work due to heat. I work as a mechanic and I have a heat sensitivity as is. I can’t even imagine what I’d be like in that heat. I went to Greece many years ago and it was above 40. I just remember wishing the holiday would end. Havnt been to a hot country since. I’m pretty sure I’d start loosing money in days off work if it got to 45c.

And you can guarantee there’ll still be some berk going “it’s just a bit of warm weather! It was really hot once in the 70s too, didn’t stop us rioting at football matches and noncing, not like today’s snowflakes!”
Out of interest, wonder what the “wet bulb” temperature for the UK is generally thought to be, given our overall level of humidity?

Anyone remember three years ago? Holy hell I’ve never been more happy I had a portable aircon. Was trapped in the house, it was that hot.

I’d rather have the gulf stream collapse and for us to go as cold as our latitude would suggest we should be thanks.

If this is becoming a yearly thing our infrastructure needs to change. People will die.

Feels like Bristol is in a weather anomaly zone… UK is flooded, Bristol is wet. UK is covered in snow, Bristol is just frosty. The UK is melting, Bristol is just pleasant.

Don’t worry, when all these Reform fools vote Farage in, he’ll just deport the high temperatures and blame it on foreigners.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, anyone pretending these temperatures are normal are nuts.
This country isnt built for temperatures around 30 let alone around the 40 ranges.
If things keep getting warmer and warmer what is it going to be like in 10-20 years?

Ridiculous that all new builds don’t have to have AC / heat pumps and better insulation. The UK is woefully ill-equipped for hot weather. Summers here are miserable

I think at this I’m gonna end up getting air conditioning if this starts becoming the new norm

As much as I love the heat, the humidity we get here makes anything above 30 degrees pretty uncomfortable.
With it being a 50/50 chance, there’s just as good odds that we’ll avoid hitting 40 degrees. For now at least.

We’re going to need robots to replace outdoor manual labour at some point. It’ll be approaching the wet bulb temperature limit for humans.

Best to look elsewhere for a weather forecast, unless you enjoy the doom and gloom scenarios.
