Nicotine products can not be on display according to Norwegian law – and the products are quite expensive, so all kinds of cigarettes and snus – plus over the counter drugs and sometimes also razor blades, are dispensed from these machines.

    2. Outlet for medicine and tobacco products from grocery stores. You make your order at the checkout, and use a receipt to get the item

    3. Dispensers for Cigarettes, Snus and Cigarillos. You pay at the till and get a small reciept to scan in the machine, then the machine dispenses the correct item. Or you can choose the product in the machine, pay at the till and come back to get it dispensed.

It’s a “secure” vending machine, you buy age limited items in the store and get a receipt from the store, scan the receipt here and get the item from the machine.

the hole in the wall is for “plastpose” or plastic bags

The green? donation box for the local handball club, below is for “Pantelapper” from when you recycleing of bottles and cans you get a receipt, if you don’t cash it in the store you can donate it to them and they will cash it in.

When you buy cigarattes and non-prescription medications at the register you get a receipt with a barcode. You scan that receipt in one of these machines and it will dispense what you bought.

Vending machines for 18+ items, medicine etc. Depending on the store, there will be a touchscreen or barcode cards that will be scanned at checkout. Once you have paid, you’ll get a barcode receipt which you scan and it will dispense the item(s).

You buy something like cigarettes or maybe snus and you’ll be given a receipt of some kind that the machine scans and then gives you your products

Those are sperm bank ATMs, and are found everywhere in Norway these days, and have been quite controversial. To put it bluntly, you stick your penis into it, it, uhm, manipulates it to extract your, uhm, essence. It’s been a government project to get sperm to sperm banks – Norway has sharply decreasing birth rates, so the government tries a variety of approaches. Either way, for the ones in convenience stores, you get store credit for your, uhm, deposit. I realize that it probably sounds pretty weird for a foreigner, but you should try it next time you’re in the store!

    9. It’s mostly nicotine products. These products can’t be on display by Norwegian law, but it has previously been a common item to steal behind the cashier during a robbery as it is an expensive item. So it is both because of law and safety.

      The way you do it:

Choose product on a screen close to the cashier

Pay for the product and get a reciept with a barcode.

Scan the barcode on this machine and the product you paid for will fall down like a vending machine.

These are like those super chill self-checkout machines you see in grocery stores. You just scan your stuff, pay, and boom, no waiting in line 😉
