All the self-congratulatory statements about us still being free of rabies are starting to sound a bit hollow.

This isn’t news, UK bats have always potentially carried Rabies. If you attend A&E we call a special UKHSA number and they authorise us to give the first dose of the rabies vaccine.
Fear mongering. EBLV (European Bat Lyssa Virus) has always been here. They are just pumping out anything rabies related because that person caught rabies abroad and died from it.
