    > The president’s State Department said the US “reaffirms the sanctity of life”

Nope. No room for that here. Medical laws should be based on science. Keep that in the Deep South.

  2. Aspect-Unusual on

America where prisoners are executed and multiple states already have assisted dying they say “The president’s State Department said the US “reaffirms the sanctity of life” in an attack on the Labour MP’s Terminally Ill Adults Bill.” go fuck off will ya

  3. InsecureInscapist on

    “slaps down”? fuck off.

Whiny dementia patient barks at clouds is more accurate.

  4. NoLove_NoHope on

But if Kier Starmer were to ever fix his mouth and speak about the atrocious state of women’s health in the US right now, he’d slap us with sanctions or something and go on some crazy rant about us interfering in things that don’t concern us.

I still can’t believe Americans put that psycho in charge again.

  5. terrordactyl1971 on

Lol, coming from the country that executes people in the electric chair

  6. Think what you will about the bill itself, but the idea that the Trump administration thinks they have any right to judge us on “the sanctity of life” can unite us all in telling them to fuck off.

  7. Leftleaningdadbod on

How many states have the same laws? 12? Something like. The White House is full of ‘nanas.

  8. I want to put forward a motion, that the words “slaps” and “slams” are banned from all political topics

    Dear USA.

Your ‘god’ doesn’t exist . We like science here.

    Thanks ,

    The UK

Let’s keep scones to the scientists – don’t need any of that God-fearing nonsense this side of the pond, thank you.

I’ll take lessons on policy from many, but not from the USA government.

  12. Life-Bedroom-8886 on

The US “reaffirms the sanctity of life“.

But does little but offer “thoughts and prayers” every single time there’s a mass shooting.

I don’t think we need to take lessons on the sanctity of life from a country with a murder rate at least five times higher than our own.

  13. Didymograptus2 on

The USA can fuck right off with interfering with UK politics. We have enough right wing nutjobs of our own without importing more.

  14. We should totally listen to him becua..
    wait..
    <checks notes>
oh… nothing to do with us, fuck off ya great orange bellend, continue to fuck up yer own country

Is the “sanctity of life” why they kept that brain dead woman on life support – against her families wishes – as an incubator for her child that has now been born disabled due to gestating in a living corpse?

Rhetorical question. We all know the reason why. The US is proper cooked.

  16. This is the same political party that, in many states, has outlawed abortion even when a child has been raped and / or pregnancy threatens the life of both the mother to be or the fetus.

The same party, rounding up American citizens and deporting them because they aren’t white and defending murders because their ideology fits the narrative.

Rethuglicans dont give a fuck about the sanctity of life.

  17. Pheasant_Plucker84 on

That only because American health care makes so much money keeping terminally ill people alive far longer than they want to be.

  18. > The president’s State Department said the US “reaffirms the sanctity of life”

I swear we’ve entered some sort of constant parody dimension.

  19. Trump is obviously against “Assisted Dying”

If the “big beautiful bill” passes there will be about 11,000 “Unassisted Dying” cases each year.

How the heck are Reform getting traction here when they seem to be a shite parody of some of the worst parts of The U.S. of Arse policies.

  20. Yeah… we need to keep these bible/gun/cheeseburger-toting maniacs as far away as possible.

  21. A convicted felons government complaining about another government doing something right for its people, the shame if it.

  22. douggieball1312 on

I love how they fought a war of independence against the British based on enlightenment principles and seem to have spent the time since then brutally dismembering those principles. Ben Franklin will be spinning so hard in his grave at the state of the country today, he’ll be dropping into the Earth’s core.

Since they’re so happy to walk out of treaties these days, maybe time for us to walk out of the Treaty of Paris?

  23. BurntToast764 on

Their citizens can just kill themselves with a gun.

We fortunately don’t have that option here.

  24. If a bunch of lunatics and criminals don’t like something we must be doing it right.

  25. It’s none of the US’ business, they should not be commenting like this. It’s highly inappropriate.

  26. Yeah, they care SOOOO much about human life after how many school shootings each year?

  27. unknownmale28 on

How many children have died in school shootings in the US in recent years? Sanctity of life, my arse.

  28. We’ll pay attention to what the US thinks of our laws’ upholding of the sanctity of life when the US puts the sanctity of life at the heart of their gun control laws.

  29. CorruptedFlame on

Weird headline. “Slaps down” implies they have, or can, actually do anything about it. It sounds like they’re just whining though?

  30. Timidhobgoblin on

My best friend has lost no less than 3 people in the last decade to cancer and will soon potentially lose a 4th. The feeling of powerlessness I have to help them or her breaks my heart. And whilst I can’t say for certain if any of them would have chosen to end their life before their conditions worsened, I do know that the option to do so would’ve potentially brought some sort of comfort at a time where comfort seemed impossible.

Facing an end without dignity and in awful pain knowing that all you can do is wait for death to come is something that terrifies the hell out of me. I have never allowed this to happen to pets, yet I’m expected to allow it to happen to friends, family and myself.

In short, fuck the Trump administration, their opinion on this matter is like that U2 album that was put on everybody’s iTunes years ago. I didn’t ask for it and I sure as shit don’t want it.

  31. innocuous_nub on

The sanctity of life, but not including the civilians of the nations the US and its allies are bombing.

  32. BoringWozniak on

From the country that is rounding up people into camps, where they are dying.

    No, I am not exaggerating.

  33. Trump and the USA are not the worlds enforcement of law, Something they seem to forget, trump especially lately.

  34. Eternal__damnation on

First they’re coming over here across the pond to attack our abortion laws and clinic safe zones, now they’re coming after assissted dying…

Can they just stay in the US and ruin their lives not ours

  35. Due-Resort-2699 on

I really don’t think the US government is in a position to be giving us lectures of morality
