    1. This is a disgusting and objectively perverse verdict from a judge notorious for hating police officers, the same judge that quite happily gave several retired police officers suspended prison sentences for jokes made in private but gave a conditional discharge to 2 terrorist sympathisers celebrating the Hamas attacks in October.

No doubt the usual vermin will be out in force celebrating this.

      What?

His actions were completely reasonable. He had reasonable suspicion that a crime was being committed (fare evastion) and necessity to arrest. PACE arrest criteria fulfilled. We all saw the video.

How on earth did this result in a conviction?

Surely they plan on appealing this?

You can tell there’s brown people involved by the type of commenters that come out of the woodwork.

I fucking KNEW it would be judge Tan Ikram before I even opened the article.

For reference, this is the judge who “decided not to punish” the women who wore pictures of paragliders to a Palestine march, despite them being found guilty of showing support for terrorism. – [Link](https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/uk-news/2024/02/15/calls-to-discipline-judge-who-spared-women-guilty-of-terror-offence/)

This decision not to punish is unusual, as he previously handed out suspended prison sentences, in addition to community service, to men found guilty of sharing racist memes in a private WhatsApp group. – [Link](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67650961.amp)

He’s an activist and a liability.

(I just watched the video of the arrest).

Why do people refuse to cooperate when asked to do simple things like showing a bus ticket (or oyster card in this case)? Then squirm and shriek and resist when they’ve been detained by the police?

Surely they don’t expect a good outcome from such childish behaviour?

From what I have seen in the comments and the article, the copper did the right thing, fuck off with this bullshit, all she had to do was show the paid ticket.

This is bullshit and the cop did the right thing.

    7. Fare evasion is implicitly legal then now I guess? If you get stopped, just refuse to comply and the police can’t stop you.
