The OSCE urged Syria to withdraw its recognition of Georgia’s occupied regions, but the Georgian government held back from backing the move, as the resolution also criticized the ruling party

In July 2025, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted the [Porto Declaration](https://1tv.ge/lang/en/news/osce-pa-urges-syria-to-withdraw-recognition-of-independence-of-georgias-abkhazia-tskhinvali-regions/), calling on Syria to revoke its recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia – two regions occupied by Russia – and reaffirming Georgia’s territorial integrity.
