Ah yeah but free speech doesn’t mean free from consequences does it, like death from crazy fundamentalists.

I’m sure that will stop the islamic extremist mobbing up

That guy from Batley can now resume teaching, safe in the knowledge he’s protected from blasphemy claims.

    3. Fucking around with a specific exemption like totally makes more sense than simply saying “blasphemy laws are a load of old monkey spunk and they can go in the bin”.

    4. Anyone who forms a mob outside of a school (or any other institution) over alleged “blasphemy” should be immediately locked up. I’d like to see a law for that please

    5. This is all well and good but unless they’re willing to create protest free zones at schools and actually use force to clear them it’s pointless.

Not to mention the protection for these teachers at home or elsewhere in life. Look at Rushdie, thirty five years later and in a different country and they still got to him and managed to scar him for life.

    6. Laws are cheap and get headlines

Taking action is expensive and will expose some uncomfortable conversations.

No prizes for guessing which route always gets taken

I should be free to mock Mohammed Jesus etc and draw pictures of them in compromising positions without fear.

    8. I’m surprised people here feel so strongly about this, whilst simultaneously thinking the UK not having an equivalent to America’s first amendment is a good thing.

We have to make laws to protect teachers from Islamic extremists now.

      Fantastic.

And before I get down voted into oblivion, no other group / religion / body of people cares about what is being taught it schools to this level, apart from some right wing nut jobs with sex education / gender identity.
