Hi! I am a cartographer from Lithuania and I deal with the history of the Polish -Lithuanian Commonwealth. The new courland is my cartographic project in which I play a forgotten fragment of the history of Poland! Yes, Rzeczpospolita once had a colony in the Caribbean!

Well, not literally, but the story is this: in the 17th century the Duchy of Courland gained territories in today’s Gambia and on the island of Tobago. The principality itself was the vassal of the Polish -Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the colonial project lasted almost five decades.

I add a link in the comments to a larger version of the map so that you can watch it more closely

    1. Wasal twojego wasala nie jest twoim wasalem. Rzeczpospolita nie mia艂a kolonii.
