Storms have reached Poland and will affect many regions on Monday afternoon and evening. The most dangerous conditions are already present and will continue in the coming hours in the south-east. Supercells with large hailstones, heavy rain leading to flooding and very strong winds exceeding 100 km/h are possible there. Locally, there may even be tornadoes. The Government Security Centre has sent alerts to residents of the three most threatened provinces. After 4 p.m., the alert was extended to part of another province — Świętokrzyskie. Territorial Defence Forces soldiers have been put on standby.

I was driving southbound towards Nowy Targ and approximately 1-2km before the tunnel noticed very dark low clouds and soon after we hit a wall of water. It was insane. I slowed down to 20-30km/h on 120km/h limit put hazards on, still could barely see like 2m in front of the car and decided to stop on the hard shoulder. 2 other cars did the same. Other cars passed us but we waited it out, it lasted for maybe 10 minutes but it was insane. Never had to emergency stop on a S-road before. I know that when you emergency stop you should probably get out and stand behind railings but in this scenario I kind of felt it’s safer in the car.

Heavy storm twice today so far near Lublin lol. I have a flight tomorrow morning annoyingly.

    3. Good, Wisła is super shallow right now. Went over it south of Warsaw today, the whole river turned into 2 seemingly leg-deep channels

So now the Russians and Germans are invading us WITH WEATHER?

      great./s.

Hope every Redditor actually in Poland is safe.

We just had flooding in Texas with 80 deaths reported last time I read the news.

Edit: 90 deaths, dozens missing, more rain coming.

    5. About this time back in 2021 I was in Poland, in Katowice. That was the first time I had encountered such magnificent but also very scary thunderstorms. My phone was glued to the window on the 8th floor on my hotel room just recording slow-mo videos of the lightning strikes. They were spectacular. Never seen the sky split in so many fragments from lightning.

Oh and the rain was insane, there was a bit of flooding. I also remember all the SMS alert spam a few hours prior, thinking wtf is going on, the sky is as bright as day. Oh, sweet summer child, how wrong I was.

So yeah, those alerts, they aren’t a joke. July seems to have pretty intense storms in Poland.
