Ryanair and Warsaw-Modlin Airport have announced a groundbreaking, long-term partnership, ending a conflict that has been ongoing for years. Under the new agreement, the Irish carrier plans to more than triple its passenger numbers – from the current 1.5 million to over 5 million per year by 2030. The airport has committed, among other things, to expanding its infrastructure, including the terminal and aircraft stands.

By September 2027, Modlin is to prepare four additional check-in desks (for a total of eight) and four new aircraft parking spaces (for a total of twelve). This will enable Ryanair to expand its base – the carrier has declared an investment of $400 million, increasing the number of its aircraft in Modlin from 4 to 8 and launching up to 25 new routes.

As part of its planned expansion, the airline has announced the creation of over 200 new jobs in Modlin, including positions for pilots, cabin crew and engineers. The airport, in turn, plans to hire approximately 400 additional employees for passenger services, security, services and commercial activities.

Beyond just the airline industry, this says a lot about how Poland is developing. Those 3.5 million additional passengers are either Poles who now have enough money to travel abroad, or foreigners interested in traveling to Poland, be it for business or leisure. Which is great news 🚀

    1. perhaps now things will change for the better on this tiny airport.

Ryanair got rid of competition on some routes and monopolized them.

For example for years if you wanted to fly to Dublin directly you had to use Modlin where often while waiting for a flight there wasn’t even a place for you to stand not mention sitting down.

    2. I see the airport plans to expand to a 5-8 million capacity. Considering CPK is in progress, a big question mark if Chopin stays or closes, and this – it doesn’t feel very joined up or connected to bigger national infrastructure plans.

I hope these make real changes over tweaks cause right know Modlin is the absolute worst airport I’ve come across this century.

Ok so my gripes are as follows: modlin is basically a glorified air field that is somewhat difficult to get to. But you get what you pay for; budget flights budget airport. Chopin gives me serious Tegel vibes, but the parking is f**cking abyssmal, the only thing that can fit in the parking is a go kart. Honestly I dont know where the money should go toward; expanding modlin and building a nice rail to warsaw central or conpletely revamping WAW.
