Anyone ordering a ride-hailing cab from the airport will now have to walk to a new pick-up point located in the main outdoor car park.
Currently, passengers who book taxis through ride-hailing services like Uber, Bolt, and eCabs are picked up right outside the arrivals hall.
Starting Monday, however, arriving passengers will be required to go down to level -1, pass through the tunnel to the outdoor car park, and take a left to reach the new ride-hailing pick-up point.
This change affects only ride-hailing service pick-ups; ride-hailing taxis will still be allowed to drop off passengers at the departure gate.
The white taxi pick-up zone in front of arrivals will remain unchanged.

>White taxi drivers argued they were at a disadvantage due to the “unregulated presence of Y-plate vehicles.”
The white taxis drivers are at a disadvantage because everyone who has once used a white taxi in Malta avoids them like the plague: If they’re not trying to rip you off, they want to either make you uncomfortable or casually attempt to kill you in a car crash. I have seen it all; hateful or inappropriate comments, reckless driving, speeding, using phones, swearing, having their mistresses in the car, intimidating for taking the wrong car, being 90 years or older and unable to turn the head or the steering wheel, or simply being overall obnoxious.
I take any other ride service over a white cab any time.
I’d honestly rather take the bus than a white taxi.
