It started with no tax rises, then no tax rises on working people, then employer NI isn’t a tax on working people, now we’re at no tax rises on modest incomes.. and soon it will be no tax rises for unemployed people

Mark my words. They are going to attack pensions contributions. Middle earners for too long have been able to save and build wealth for their retirement. THIS LABOUR GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE BOLD ACTION, TO STEAL THE FUTURE OF YOUNG WORKING PEOPLE. Cause anyone saving money clearly has broad shoulders and their earned income MUST BE DISTRIBUTED.

This is what happens when the country isn’t doing well.

We’re encouraged to fight amongst ourselves, so we don’t start making demands upon the broadest shoulders

  4. Yeah, because they were forced to u-turn on some extremely tepid disability benefit reform, they now have to find some other way to balance the books. Their backbenchers won’t allow them to cut spending, the bond markets won’t allow them to borrow anything, so all that’s left is tax hikes.

  5. Here we go. The left cannot help but sabotage itself. They are literally lubing us up for a Farage led government. And the horror that will unfold under that regime will make many here look back with nostalgia on Labour’s fairly modest benefit reduction proposals.

The UK cannot afford the level of state support we currently provide people. It’s as simple as that.

Got to pay for the tax hole created by those with bleeding hearts for benefits scroungers.

I might just apply for PIP citing stress from taxes and get on the gravy train too.

We already have a top heavy tax system. Reality is the average person doesn’t pay enough to cover our services. Noones going to admit it but base rate +1%, ctg +1% is the real solution.

When will people wake up. We are taking money from productive people and giving it to unproductive people.

There is no middle class!!! Well it’s been squeezed to the brink. They’re just trying to pit the working class against each other instead of upsetting those elites who hoard the hundreds of millions! Cowards

  10. When did everyone not on a “modest income” also not become a “working person”.

Vote in haste, repent at leisure people.

  11. Already cut my hours and pumped the pension.

You get jack all else out of me.

    And I don’t care.

Want me to care then make me feel like the tax you take is actually doing something and not being frittered away.

I think we need to look at those paying themselves 12500 a year and giving themselves dividends ?

  13. Not against paying more taxes, but increasingly feels like this is a wealth transfer to pensioners as the country crumbles due to underinvestment , rather than shouldering a necessary burden to fix anything.

We should not be taxing people on 100k. We should be taxing corporations and assets. No more landlords buying 10 properties. Increase council tax on multiple homes and they are not allowed to pass it on. Increase stamp duty.

Increase corporation tax and Ban loopholes.

  15. Get rid of the triple lock ffs

Don’t screw over the livelihoods of the young people that have yet to live their lives

  16. But the main thing is that they didn’t get rid of the winter fuel allowance, people 🥲

What the public wants is for the rich and corporations to pay what they should. Not much to ask is it.

I swear Labour just want to drag everyone down, if you strive and achieve even slightly they hate you.

I have no issue paying more tax for the disabled. My best mate gets a mobility car because he lost his legs in an accident a decade ago(he works still btw). My other family member is also on pip because they were routinely abused in a 70s school for the deaf. He’s tried to kill himself twice already but I’m sure the right wing media will claim he’s just “sad”.

But I do mind paying more tax so my great aunt can get another windfall on her state pension, shes got two fucking houses and just leased a lexus. Did she work hard for her money? No she bought a council house for a few K that’s now worth half a million plus and she equity released money to buy her holiday home and cars.

But those fuckers in wheelchairs. (the amount of abuse the assessed as severely disabled get in these posts is depressing but expected these days, the look after our own british values gang are a funny lot)

Nice vague phrasing, with lots of room for interpretation by individuals, so that it can mean anything to anyone lol.

Oh boy I wonder how many people who railed against the disability reforms will now be screaming about no tax rises.

I bet you the venn diagram overlaps.

Really, what is the fucking point of working hard in this country? It’s all I’ve ever done and yet I feel poorer than ever, I cannot keep up with inflation, tax rises, ans the general theft of money from this country by corporations. Shall I just quit work (forget the skills I used to gain my PhD) and sit on benefits all day?

Middle class must be about £250,000 a year considering the cost of life now!
