“It’s sort of exciting isn’t it, breaking the rules?”

“Who are you and what have you done with ~~Hermione Granger?~~” Emma Watson?

  2. Historical_Owl_1635 on

Wow she already had 9 points on her license before this.

Her public image definitely doesn’t paint her as the type to be a reckless driver.

  3. She did 38mph in a 30 zone and already had nine points on her license, for those who don’t want to read the article.

  4. 38 in a 30 and a totting up ban. Boring

She could have gone for something a bit more visually spectacular.

  5. BusyBeeBridgette on

Deserved. She pleaded guilty. Then specifically asked for a court hearing then elected not to show. Banned for 6 months.

  6. bulldog_blues on

Given her net worth she’s rich enough for this to be only a minor inconvenience anyway.

She could have been killed, instead she got expelled.

Should have taken the broomstick instead!

And to think that Hermione had the cheek to think that Ron Weasley wouldn’t be able to pass a muggle driving test! (She was right, it turns out, but I still like the irony.)

    > Watson already had nine points on her licence before the speeding incident occurred, the court heard.

    12 points to Gryffindor

  10. ndertaker252 on

Well if she gets the time turner out, I reckon she can go back and stop herself getting the points and then everything will be fine

    Right?

I would gladly offer to drive Emma Watson around all day, bonus points if she lets me use her car (which is likely more flash than my suzuki ignis)

Not really sure why this needs to be a newspaper article

Person with 9 points gets 3 more and gets default 6 month ban

  13. She did 38 in a 30 and had 9 points. I didn’t read the article, I’m just adding my comment to all the others unnecessarily repeating that she did 38 in a 30 and had 9 points.

  14. It’s weird that this constitutes news now and that we have come to accept it as such.

  15. Judge: I’m giving you a temporary ban before you do something that gets yourself killed, or worse expelled.

  16. DornPTSDkink on

She already had 9 points? With how she paints her public image, I didn’t expect that.

Is little Hermione a speedy freak?

I thought fines were supposed to be linked to ability to pay? Sounds very low for someone who has a reported net worth of £80m.

  18. GreyFoxNinjaFan on

The number of people who drive around (especially greater London) at way over 30 in a 30 zone is crazy.

  19. What an idiot. 9 points and still speeding in built up areas. It’s actually quite difficult to lose your license without alcohol being involved, so either she is completely oblivious or doesn’t give a shit.

  20. Hey, to be fair, maybe she isn’t an obnoxious driver and actually just a legitimately shit driver.

  21. restore_democracy on

Quite a coincidence that two actors from the same film both had their licenses suspended in the same court on the same day.

  22. CobblerSmall1891 on

And here I was excited my childhood crush was doing 100mph and it’s just pathetic 38mph.
    Come on Emma.

  23. Worried_Claim_3063 on

Dude Not gonna lie, didn’t expect Emma to be a speedster with a track record like that. 38 in a 30 while already sitting on nine points? Sounds more like a movie plot twist than real life. Guess even Hermione has a rebellious side.

  24. Milky_Finger on

If you lift your vehicle off the floor, then you’re technically flying which has a much higher speed limit.

I can’t believe Hermione forgot this simple trick. Muggle nonsense.

  25. Banned because she didn’t attend her own hearing.

I don’t know why, but I had her down as a prompt person.

  26. Canadian here, is the UK very strict when it comes to speeding? I know there are many highways here where it is practically acceptable to do 120-125 km/hr in a 100 zone.

  27. Nervous-Power-9800 on

Always wondered what her car collection would be like… Doubt she’d be one for Ferraris and Astons, reckon she’s flying about in a student spec VW Up! or 20 plate Fiesta…

Edit: It was an S3. Respect.

  28. Quite shocked actually. Kind of always had Emma down as a responsible person. But maybe that is because of her role in HP.

  29. iamezekiel1_14 on

Let’s be brutally frank – she could go out and by a Rolls and a pleb to chauffeur her around for 6 months and it wouldn’t even touch the sides of her fortune.

  30. John_Williams_1977 on

She’s the queen of self righteous comments – but follow the law? Like a…poor person?!?!

    Pathetic ivory tower person.

  31. Annual_History_796 on

Given she has an even bigger stick up her arse than the character she most famously played, this is very funny.

  32. SparkedIntoLife on

I live near Stratford-upon-Avon and she upset the locals recently when she parked illegally, blocking in several cars for hours. Her car was towed. She tweeted about the lack of parking in SUA (absolute bullshit deflection). Basically she’s incredibly arrogant and thinks she’s above the rules. Compare that with David Tennant who is often encountered around the town through his RSC work and is praised unanimously for being a humble, down to earth gent.
