Hey, i’ve seen this one before.

Guess it’s gonna come down to what temperature McDonalds is dispensing hot drinks again.

    > Levi claimed she was handed the hot chocolates from the drive-thru with “no warning” as to how hot they were.

If I ordered hot chocolate, it would surprise me if it was anything but hot, with that said drinks shouldnt be served so hot they hospitalise people

It does sound like McDonalds forgot their expensive lesson though

It’s been many years since I worked there but hot chocolates at the time did come out at basically boiling temperature, you definitely couldn’t take a sip for a good 5-10 minutes lol.

  3. Chocolate drink so hot it’d leave severe burns 5 minutes later is insane, to what temperature do they prepare them to

  4. Pale_Slide_3463 on

This is the same reason why chicken nuggets arnt piping hot anymore 😭

  5. Helloitisme1_2_3 on

This has been a problem for many years. It should never be BOILING hot, it is simply too dangerous if you drop it.

I’ve often bought hot chocolate and it’s not as hot as say tea or coffee, I’d be interested to know how hot it was

So what were her parents doing. Because i can tell how hot a drink is before giving it to a child.

  8. weirdhoney216 on

I don’t even trust myself with a hot drink in a car never mind a child, my heart would be in my mouth

Why the hell do companies serve their hot drinks boiling hot? Costa does the same with their coffees, it takes 20 minutes for them to cool down to a point you can drink them. What is the purpose??

  10. GoldenDrummer on

Not sure whose fault this was in honestly but I can confirm McDonald’s hot chocolate is essentially molten lava where I am as well

  11. Before anyone goes jumping at the child/parent, let’s everyone just take a step back and remember exactly how this played out last time and Maccies were found to be serving their drinks unreasonably hot.

A hot drink can scald a child, even 20 minutes after being poured. If I was to give my child a hot drink I’d wait till it’s sufficiently cooled ( or add milk to cool it) and only give it with supervision. If it’s hot, it could scald. Plus I’m pretty sure there’s writing on the cup warning the contents are hot. The clue is in the name Hot Chocolate.

  13. As someone who takes buses and at times buys a coffee in the morning yeah I’m probably gonna get some horrible burns now if I go to maccies yeah fuck that

They already had the famous lawsuit where some reason they thought people were buying maccies coffee to have at work instead of on the way and we all know what happend there,

Happiest compo face this week, from someone not wearing a Union Jack dress.

  15. Aren’t all their hot drinks hot? If I got a coffee I couldn’t down it straight away I’d usually let it cool down a bit first

  16. > The mum from Camborne explained that she visited McDonald’s in Pool last Tuesday (July 8) and purchased five hot chocolates for her family. Levi claimed she was handed the hot chocolates from the drive-thru with “no warning” as to how hot they were.

Oh noes. Poor girl. Did the cup have warnings in all the languages? Sounds like McDonald’s could be having a payout, not?

I’m gonna go ahead and assume that the burns were completely unrelated to the drinking or handling of the beverage, as the headline would imply.

  18. KiwiLiverpool on

The drinks they serve don’t need to be that hot, we’ve seen this before.

  19. Strict-Brick-5274 on

I went to Dublin zoo and the vendors had signs saying “please ne aware contents of hot chocolate are very hot before giving to children” so this is very common apparently

  20. cant wait to hear about how she’s actually crazy and was speeding down a motorway at the time of the spill again lol

  21. Necessary_Figure_817 on

Putting my pedantic lawyer hat on, I really hate press headlines.

Buying hot chocolate doesn’t cause sever burns!

  22. MandelbrotFace on

The woman from the first case was vilified by the media and public at the time, but I only found out recently how severe her injuries were. 3rd degree burns on 6% of her skin, lesser burns on 16%. She went through skin grafts, was left permanently disfigured and was disabled for 2 years.

    Not again

Is McDonald’s ever gonna learn, or do they just enjoy being sued?

  24. spank_monkey_83 on

Shouldn’t they have a label on their saying for internal use only? Years ago someone from a drive thru managed to spill coffee in his lap and there was a compensation claim. That’s why the useless saying content may be hot

How is this still a problem? Didn’t they get famously fucked in a courtroom over this?
