The transition from The Fossil Fuel Age to the Renewables Age continues apace. It's worth noting solar, wind and batteries have years more price falls ahead. In the 2030s, country after country will have near 100% renewables powered grids.
World on brink of climate breakthrough as fossil fuels ‘run out of road’, UN chief says
Over 90% of global renewable power projects are now cheaper than fossil fuels. Solar power costs 41% less than the cheapest fossil fuel option, and onshore wind is under half the price, per an International Renewable Energy Agency report.

Which is precisely why the GOP is trying to strangle renewable energy in the crib. It’s insanely short sighted and objectively dumb as hell but hey, CEOs gotta buy yachts that can fit other smaller yachts inside of them, right guys?
lol, and our immensely genius leader in America want to “go back to beautiful, clean coal!”
What I would like to know is whether solar + battery has gotten cheap enough to replace fossil fuels, or is it still cheaper keep natural gas for base load / night generation.
It’s sad that there is more corruption now in the US than communist China.
If this is true, the renewables should not need any subsidies – they will be chosen by virtue of price and capability. The fact that governments are subsidising the hell out of them suggests that this rosy picture is not all true.
If we just built more clean non intermittent power.
If it’s really that much cheaper then there is no need for government subsidies. People and companies will choose it based off of its own cost efficiency.
It’s going to be it’s own kinda nutty when all the power is to-cheap-to-meter with the exception of AI/AGI server farms that need their own nuclear power plants like 3 mile island.
Smart networks/grids, renewables, evs, powerwalls, are all growing on their own and in concert. The cost of transmission is going to be the biggest bottleneck sooner than we think.
If it isnt some sort of Nuclear Energy its not going to happen.
You cannot harvest enough windpower and solar for new tech or population growth.
Everyone knows that Nuclear is by far the cleanest energy on the planet, not requiring you to strip mine entire mountains or employ children in Africa to collect cobalt.
The future is Nuclear.
