Ukrainian fencer Yulia Bakastova defeated Russian fencer Sofya Velikaya, a major in the Russian Armed Forces, Olympic champion and 14-time European champion.The Ukrainian defeated Velikaya with a score of 15:14.

The competition took place in Georgia, where the World Fencing Championships are currently underway, to which the organizers, among other things, allowed Russian athletes.

Sofya Velikaya is not just a champion and major in the Russian Armed Forces, she has also recently become a trusted person of Putin personally and has been included in the sanctions list of Ukraine for a period of 10 years.
