  1. > Fermi America’s ambitious “Hypergrid” project, set to launch on July 4 near Amarillo, Texas, aims to revolutionize the U.S. energy and AI infrastructure landscape by integrating **nuclear, natural gas, solar, and wind power** to support 18 million square feet of data centers, marking a strategic push towards national security and energy independence.

    > The Hypergrid project is set to encompass **18 million square feet of AI data centers**, powered by a diverse array of energy sources. Located near Amarillo, Texas, this facility will combine nuclear, natural gas, solar, and wind energy, creating a robust and sustainable power ecosystem. The facility aims to achieve an astounding 11 gigawatts (GW) of IT capacity, a scale that can **energize over 8.2 million homes.**

    > This endeavor not only promises to be a colossal energy and data complex but also symbolizes a strategic move to bolster the nation’s energy independence and technological prowess. U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry pointed out the widening gap in nuclear energy developments between the U.S. and countries like China, **which is constructing 22 nuclear reactors.**

    > The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is reviewing Fermi’s applications, which include plans for **multiple** 1-GW nuclear reactors. This initiative aligns with executive actions aimed at accelerating reactor approvals and reforming the NRC’s regulatory framework.

    > Despite the promise of clean energy, the project faces scrutiny. Critics express concerns about the potential risks of hastening reforms, warning against compromising safety and public trust. Recent developments, such as President Trump’s **dismissal** of NRC commissioner Chris Hanson, have fueled debates over the future of nuclear policy and **regulation.**

A scale that could power 8.2 million homes… but won’t, because we need to dump it all into chatbots.

it’s worse when you consider that we don’t have enough water for these data centers… they need to find another way to cool the computers.

Last year America installed 50GW of solar.

    China installed 96GW. Last month.

America is currently building 2 nuclear reactors. China is building 27.

Every 18 months, China adds an entire United States grid worth of generation capacity (coal/natural gas mainly).

98% of global supply of LFP is made in China.

Aren’t these numbers just crazy to imagine?! Check each one if you want. Energy cost is the #1 predictor of a societies future.

The next ten years will be pretty crazy!

  5. Someone needs to invade our ass and stop this shit right now. Literal insanity. We’re annihilating any chance of reaching zero emissions so we can create imaginary bullshit. At a time when should probably be banning all recreational fossil fuel use, we’re doing this instead.

The companies involved in the Hypergrid project include:

    * **Fermi America:** The Texas-based energy development company co-founded by former U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, which is leading the project.
