Its pretty much the end of NASA as we know it. Even it funding is restored in 4 years, it would take another decade to catch up on the talent that is lost. With all the trillions that have been spent on space exploration we still have quite accomplished much.

Oh no, anyways. They clearly don’t value science over a pay day.

As when private industry does this, typically you lose the best people who have other options.

None of that is going to save any taxpayer money. The money will be redirected to deeply sketchy “contracts” or “grants” and the money will vanish into a black hole of laundering operations and Crypto scams to line billionaires pockets even more.

Sometimes, I feel like real life mimics sci-fi to the point where it almost feels like sci-fi knows the future and is a way to get us accustomed for what’s to come. Right now, my fun (although not actually fun) feeling is we are currently moving into The 3 Body Problem area of sci-fi becomes real life. First it was Idiocracy, and part two is The 3 Body Problem.

You mean retire? Seems like it’s an early retirement option.

You’d be nuts to take a buyout from Trump. He prob won’t even pay you out.

This is great news! They will get what they are worth with no NC and they dont have to live and die be an appointee.
That’s 4k more people vying for the same jobs while people are getting laid off left and right.
In about 2 years when the economy really absorbs the changes, it’s going to be bleak.
