    I photographed 3 galaxies at once from the ISS


    3 galaxies at once! I photographed the Milky Way and both Magellanic Clouds in this star field from the SpaceX Crew 9 Dragon spacecraft, during Expedition 72 to the ISS. Below, city lights streak across the time history, and red atmospheric airglow separates our planet from the stars above. My star tracker allowed for stars to be photographed as fixed pinpoints while the Earth continued to rotate below, making this detail possible.

      Amazing. I managed to capture Andromeda on my phone after a stop at some tiny gas station on the outskirts or Mark twain National Forest and I’ve been hooked ever since. Great work and I’m insanely jealous lol

      Pardon my ignorance but what is the visual “aura” around the earth? Scientifically, please..

      I’m curious, how many photos did you take on the ISS, and how long is it going to take to process them all?

      And also, what’s next for you? Stick around to try and break John Glenn’s record while teaching the rest of the corps photography, retire and publish a coffee table book of photos?

      How do you track the stars in space? I can’t imagine you align to Polaris.

      I see you mentioned a startracker but I’m still confused. You should do a video walkthrough of that if you have time.
