      This sounds like a good idea, so no doubt next week you’ll need to show a copy of your passport to buy an erotic novel instead as that’s a much better use of government and civil servants time.

      Weird to even type this out that I’m actually hoping YT will stick to it’s guns on this matter. Fuck the BBC, Lib Dems and this whole ‘protect the children’ bullshit. At least the article hit the nail on the head somewhat with the real reason;

      People aren’t following the traditional news and becoming harder to approach through TV which frightens them.

      YouTube can’t show ads at all to users in Albania. VPN users might find this information interesting.

      The problem is a load of the reputable companies fled from YouTube after various pressure campaigns from the think of the children lot. That only leaves scammers and other nonsense left to advertise on there, at least half the ads I get on there are obvious scams on some way or another.

      To be fair if it gets rid of the annoying AI “Taking the world by storm” Etc. YouTube ads than that would be great, anything that has a QR code take up the majority of the screen is a scam

      Perhaps Google could use their genuinely world-leading AI capabilities to deal with this.

      Perhaps they could also fix the comment engine using AI so that it understands context and nuance, to stop things being autodeleted with no warning or reason. Imagine watching a true crime video and the words “rape” and “murder” and “body” and “police” causes your comment to get hosed. That’s what the red error text on editing is – the comment is already gone and sometimes it can be instant.

      I once commented on a video of a car stuck in snow and said “All he needs to do is roll back and turn his wheels” – noticed a typo, went back to edit, red text of doom. Why. You will also find comment replies in your notifications, you click to read it and your handle is not visible in the thread. Because again your comment is gone.

      YouTube does seem full of ads for junk products that don’t have a clear product picture and looks to be cut together from stock photos and all have the same AI voiceover. Are they selling a Chromecast, Firestick, or a fistful of empty promises for more than the Firestick that is displaying the ads cost.

      But it’s not just YouTube is it?

      My mum saw one of the Martin Lewis ones on Facebook so I’m not sure why they’re saying it’s youtube specific

      Do you mean to say that the AI chap trying to sell me Tai Chi every few minutes (the one where doctors ask HIM for advice) is a con job?

      What about the weird dancing puppets talking about my Cortizol addiction / procrastination addiction in a weird shitty AI song?

      Not the person who tells me that I can lose 15lb and 3 pant sizes in 2 weeks JUST BY WALKING.
