OpenAI has launched a new “OpenAI for Government” initiative, partnering with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to offer ChatGPT Enterprise to federal agencies at $1 per agency per year for the next 12 months. This move supports the Trump administration’s AI Action Plan and aims to modernize government workflows and efficiency. What are the implications of this deal?

The last time I saw this story, it noted that Claude ai is also working to offer the same. Get the government on board, and you can also pursue contracts later, potentially special ones because of the security level reqs if they go that way

How the hell do Republicans distrust medical professionals, scientists, economists, statisticians, etc. but they are embracing AI so easily

It is obvious that there are nefarious interests here. But it’s worth nothing that lots of government work also hugely benefits from exactly the sort of automation that’s already possible with OpenAI. The government’s imperative will be to procure in a way that does not create dependence, which frankly seems unlikely.
