I think this horrific information is well known already. We should be doing everything we can to ensure that these monsters that abuse children are found, convicted, and removed from society for the rest of their lives so they cannot harm any other children. Too little is done to make sure that abusers cannot abuse again.

Becomes more complicated when other children are the abusers.

This is why you don’t teach stranger danger, you teach no secrets even amongst family

    3. This qualifies as news? That family members and other children are the perpetrators of abuse has been known for decades. I don’t disagree that it needs repeating as some seem to think it’s a non-issue.

      >The government set up the taskforce last year to tackle what Prime Minister Rishi Sunak dubbed “evil grooming gangs”.

      >But fewer than one in five (19%) of the cases it has investigated so far involve networks of offenders.

Uh, it seems like a crazily frequent occurrence if one in five cases of child abuse involve a grooming gang.

If asked to guess, I would have said 1-2%.

    5. Having worked with many survivors of childhood sexual assault it’s always astounded me how many are known to the families and none of them seemed to give a shit about it.

This is why the proposed SRE curriculum reforms are so dangerous. Children need to be supported to understand these things as early as possible, and there shouldn’t be the option for the person who is abusing the child to opt out.

Now add in the recent plan to ban sex education for the under-nines to get really terrified.

Not a shock to anyone who works with children and young people. The worst abuse I’ve ever heard involved family members.

But hey, let’s ban the programs that educate children that they can say no, and that if they feel uncomfortable they should tell someone!

Anyone who supports banning sex education really needs to look at this and realise what they’re advocating for.

No shit. This has been known for decades if you pick up some social work or psychiatry literature about the subject instead of reading only the mainstream media.

    10. Hmmm all the people who are very active in here when someone of Asian descent is in the news on this subject seem to be really fucking quiet. Wonder why?
