  1. Really hate how much our courts and police are treating dangerous criminals like victims.

  2. This was in 2022, and the article is unclear why it’s being posted now. Sentencing? Or just the daily mail digging up some anti immigrant hate

Well, since his victim now has a troubled background, I assume she can go around assaulting people too?

I’m seeing a lot of Daily Mail articles posted here where their upvotes vastly outweigh their comments. A little bit suspicious.

Really upsetting what happened to that girl. I hope she gets all the love and support she needs, and more. I do wish in these cases, judges and the courts would be more open to talk about what aspects influenced their decision. I understand there’s a need to send as few people to prison as possible, but situations like this lead to some people to sum up there’s a two tier justice system where you can get away with murder if you have a sad back story.

Reform should be the focus of our justice over punishment, but it’s a question of whether punishments like this actually do that, or if instead they send the message that there’s a way to manipulate the courts in your favour. I’m not saying that’s necessarily the case, only if it’s the optics of the situation.

Ayomide Famakinde, 23, was given a community order by the judge who said the offence was a ‘momentary aberration’.

A momentary aberration is forgetting to send an email, not molesting someone.

Unfortunately, he has been granted indefinite leave to remain in Britain. I think in cases like this, there should be zero tolerance, revoke his privilege, and deport as he’s proven himself an unworthy citizen.

  6. Do you want fascism? Because this is how you get fascism. Government too lenient on “bad people” = people elect a hard-line government to whoop ass. Then, people are surprised when their asses are also whooped. Case in point: America right now.

  7. I mean, sure, it’s the DM so it’s going to be cherry picked, but these cherries shouldn’t be there to be picked. We’d be much better off if this lovely chap never came to our country, and while he has ILR so it’s too late to send him back, criminals shouldn’t get sympathy points for their background. That’s just a licence for everyone from a “troubled background” to ignore the law.

Not really sure how you move here from Nigeria as a child and then get brought up (at our expense no doubt) in care, either. How did his parents get a visa, or if they didn’t have one and they went home, why did they leave the kids behind?

Start housing these criminals right next to the homes of the judges and politicians and then watch the sentencing guidelines and actual sentences change in no time.

Too important decisions are being made by people who don’t have to face the consequences of their decisions.
