Why would you want the flag to be on something cars drive over?

That’s a Northern Irish fleg, isn’t it? A St Patrick’s saltire?

When did we let our flag become a hate symbol? It’s our flag! We should be able to be proud of it without looking like incel Nazis.

Step 1 Read enough nonsense online to convince yourself that displaying the flag is banned
Step 2 Get angry
Step 3 commit vandalism to protest
Step 4 get arrested
Step 5 return to step 1

I find it strange when flags are painted on zebra crossings for people to drive or walk over.
This act of vandalism calls for councils across the country to ensure the St. George’s flag and Union Jack are proudly displayed on civic buildings to foster a sense of unity and pride in national heritage.
Having our national flags proudly and respectfully on display benefits everyone by improving cultural integration and binding individuals to common values.

This is getting boring now. Non newsworthy culture war crap. If any of this flag stuff has bothered them they really need their head looking at. It’s text book distraction tactics.

To be fair, they’re just covered in tyre marks half the time and driven over and no one bats an eye. Why are people suddenly making a fuss and caring about them now? So what if two red lines have been painted on them.
That being said, if I was going to put a flag on anything, it wouldn’t be anywhere near the ground. Especially not on traffic related infrastructure.
MiddleAgeCool on
I don’t actual mind that the roundabout having a cross painted on but if you’re going to do it at least put in some effort. The red lines should be 1/5 of the diameter of the circle as per the design criteria of a St, Georges cross.
Have a little pride in your work patriots; even small children know not to paint outside of the lines!

The fact that our flags are being taken down and then immigrants themselves complain about not being welcomed here. It’s on them to integrate here in the UK. It’s just all so poor.

Scottish prick wading in here. So the vandalism of the roundabout with red is a bigger problem than the tire marks of people taking a short cut?
I always thought it was odd that St George’s Cross was so demonised in England. I’m glad people are now standing up for themselves and their flag.

The irony of ‘English flags being racist’ is that a bunch of EDL thugs paraded the flags around whilst spouting their racist rhetoric and now they’ve tarnished the flag they claim to care so deeply about. Now they cry that the flag they’ve made into some kind of hate symbol is looked at as a hate symbol. You can’t make this stuff up

I prefer having a country I feel proud for rather than just waving a flag. Considering what we have done to the younger generations coming up, I can’t say I’m feeling any pride at all

Maybe I’m getting old, but I don’t remember there being a lot of English flag waving in the 80s and 90s either. Isn’t this imported outrage from the USA rather than anything we ought to be all that worried about?

Haha the flag of the country is GRAFFITI now?
I’m all for rainbow crossings. I’m also for having roundabouts with our flag on it too.

okay this is actually a good idea to improve the flag’s vibes. Also wasnt labour doing the whole “we’re taking our flag back” routine last year? did they just drop it. has this been triggered by something recently?

Funny how as soon as a Red Cross is painted on a mini roundabout it’s headline news , but other graffiti on motorway gantries etc is ok

It’s not a St Georges flag. Someone is simply saying no to the roundabout and that they don’t want it there or it is an absurd games of noughts and crosses.

When it’s in a circle I’d contend it’s no longer the national flag.
A cross in a circle is a popular symbol for neoNazis

Vandalised is a pretty strong word. Funny how the thousands of shopping trolleys thrown into rivers, cans of K cider tossed into bushes and the graffiti sprayed on road signs, electric boxes and smashed in bus stop windows are accepted now, but someone painting a roundabout with the literal flag of our country is “vandalism”. Fuck off.

You know what? I hate our flag.
It’s ugly. White with a big red cross. Nothing else. I’m sorry but of course the far right love it. White with a blood-red cross. Was bound to happen.
I like the Union Flag a lot more. I feel like it speaks to our culture more. It’s also punk rock af, and adopted by lovers of British music the world over.
Someone down my street has a Sri Lankan flag and it’s wayyy cooler than ours. My personal favourite is Somalia (lovely blue) or Bhutan (cool dragon, even bigger than Wales). Kiribati and PNG are up there because cool birds.
But the English flag represents everything I don’t like about this country. It’s ugly, it’s too similar to Georgia (but somehow their’s is prettier), it’s been adopted by racists, and it’s only brought out in sports.
County flags are nicer. Be proud of your local communities and appreciate our history!

Who cares. Tbh a lot ‘English patriots’ are losers but aggressively criminalising this kind of stuff doesn’t help anything.

It’s really not what I’d call vandalism. The BBC would’ve called Palestinian flags “local art” or something similar.

Id be more impressed if they painted the welsh flag on a roundabout, now that takes proper artistic skill.

If they made it rainbow it’d be a kind of celebrated vandalism. But since English people aren’t allowed an identity…
