It seems America and the rest of the world may look very different in the 2030s.
The rest of the world living in the future with EVs and cheap renewable energy. America in some strange steampunk version of the future, where energy is expensive, everyone still drives huge gasoline cars, and power stations still belch smoke from coal.
Cheap Chinese EVs that cost <$20k and run on cheap renewable electricity, frequently from home solar, will likely be rapidly becoming the global norm in the 2030s. I wonder if the fossil fuel industry has home solar in its sights, too? They have all the American politicians in their pockets that they need to ban it in the US.
Trump says U.S. will not approve solar or wind power projects
Trump administration halts work on an almost-finished wind farm
The US government is seeking to ban all new solar and wind projects.

Tell me you’re in the pocket of big oil without telling me you’re in the pocket of big oil.
It’s an America where the horse cart industry seems to win over automobile companies.
Or the train companies successfully prohibiting flight.
Going backwards if funny
The next person can be the laziest POS and undo one thing only to be praised
🤣
This is the end result of electing people based on their looks, lies and bravado. Most of the administration are idiots, addicts or con-men. Sometimes all three (rfk for example).
Own by oil and coal and willing to destroy the planet for money. All of them should be held accountable for crimes against humanity as they are helping accelerate global warming.
The 2nd Trump presidency will be the greatest self-own in history. My hatred for the chucklefucks that voted him in grows every single day. Thank you for making all of our futures more difficult.
Isn’t he just creating attention focused on him, yet again? Believing this is real doesn’t help.
Donnie and his moronic minions sure do not like this new fangled technology. Back to the future with coal: coal power plants, coal locomotives, home coal furnaces and all manner of coal fueled conveniences.
Hmm, it may be a boon for nuclear and fusion projects though. They just started construction of the new Helion fusion reactor, which should be up and running by 2028.
Also, there’s a few more nuke sites getting cleared for construction these days.
The stable genius decided that those forms of energy winning are not “visually” pleasant and cause disease and whatnot, he’s an expert on grass so.. let that sink in 😉
I have to correct the op. They want a steampunk future ,cyberpunk is too advanced.
I hate that the free market is being destroyed before our eyes.
Instead of letting better tech and progress win we have government banning new tech and investing in major chip makers directly.
I thought communism / socialism and market interference by government was bad, but I guess that wasn’t the case?
This administration is socialist and all the worst parts of it.
Check how much the oil companies paid him for this.
Imagine how stupid you have to be to want to ban something that is a benefit to your country and could move you ahead. Worst US administration in history.
It’s incredible how much damage Trump already did in less than a year. This will already take decades to fix and he still has 3 more years to go.
The US is fucked.
The USA is just giving the rest of the world a 4 year advantage. By 2028 the USA will be back or irrelevant, one or the other.
>The US government is seeking to ban all new solar and wind projects.
That’s a truly idiotic claim, to put it mildly.
The US government is seeking to put all energy generation options on equal footing, and let the market decide what’s the best option to pursue. That’s how it should be.
Watch California leave the dumpster fire.
The usa has fallen and face planted so hard its wild. Get your house in order.

I firmly believe you could design a tacky gold wind farm, name it for him, and he’d sign off.
You could also disguise it as a wacky comic book inspired detention facility for brown people and, again, he’d approve it.
He’s basically a toddler. Dress it up a little with something he likes, he won’t even notice.
Trump is self-sabotaging America just for his “adversary” friends to eventually take over the world in exchange of keeping America under his guidance for good
If I hear one more person defend capitalism as if there is a free market, I swear. I’m not sure of a free market existing.
This is one of the dumbest decisions the US government could do to itself. Reliance on non-renewables such as solar and wind is extremely short-sighted. This is the equivalent of shooting oneself in the foot.
I just don’t get it. It’s not like there’s a limited demand for energy right now. It is exploding everywhere. So why would big oil need to stop anything else from existing? Even if they are at full capacity there would still be room for alternative suppliers!
So if a private company wants to privately invest in and sell renewable energy what the hell say does the government have? What happened to capitalism? What happened to a free market with competition? What happened to don’t tread on me?
US is investing into SMR technologies. Don’t forget that. Clean, compact, safe and highly scalable.
It will be a blip at best, and most definitely NOT save any fossil fuel companies, and really it will have zero impact.
Reason why – oil and fossil fuels only work due to scale. If demand for oil, gas and coal drops everywhere else (it will, and quickly) the price will drop while capacity is there to extract, after about 12 to 24 months, any companies that don’t have low enough operating costs go bust, and the price starts going up again, but heres the kicker, about 4 to 5 years later it does NOT STOP going up, even as demand continues to drop because the infrastructure that keeps it cheap (extraction, refining and distribution) will have been impacted, and with no one willing to invest, whatever infrastructure is left will come to the end of its service life and be decommissioned, further constraining supply.
At that point you’re basically in an upwards cost spiral that will mean it makes zero sense to buy an ICE car, increasing the demand for electrics. America will beaybe 2 to 3 years behind the world but thats about it. Nothing is stopping the drive to electrification, it just does not make sense economically.
A similar scenario will play out in the energy generation space.
My cousin used to help people install solar through his company, where they’d pay for the panels and installation and he’d install them for their full ownership (not the scammy “rental/lease” programs).
He went out of business because the solar tariffs made solar unaffordable for him to install at his rates, and he said the American companies couldn’t deliver.
What’s even more fucked up is this spring the government came and stole all of his solar panels and said they were imported illegally. He doesn’t know where they went and he doesn’t even want to fight it because he’s so done.
