9 years later and people still complaining about Brexit.

Does that mean I can complain about the Roman army causing chaos 2,000 years ago?

Is there a ‘for goodness sake, move on!’ limit – 9 years okay, 2000 not okay? So, 1000 years? We can complain about the Normal conquest…?

  2. fine. nothing wrong with that view.

not my opinion but so what.

great woman, great head of state.

I don’t know what the Queen actually thought.

BUT there are news stories stating the exact opposite to this.

How can we ever trust the media when they play both sides?

  4. Whether or not you’re a monarchist, you have to recognise that the Queen was an astute and intelligent woman.

  5. If you actually read the article there’s more evidence that she was anti EU than anything else lol.

Edit – getting downvoted for actually reading the article??

No shit, Remain was a vote for the establishment or in other words the entire establishment was remain . The royal family being the largest landlord and biggest landowner in the UK.

    Leave was an anti-establishment vote.

  7. Well she wasn’t stupid and racist two of the major factors you needed to vote for Brexit.

The Farage Nazis would call her unpatriotic.

I’m sure I read that her generation tended to lean towards remain, so not surprised (if this is true, which… who knows?)

Kinda wish she came out and said something.

I know a lot of people think the monarchy are useless but with older generations the Queens word carried some weight.

  10. Of course. Husband from Greece, ancestors from Germany, cousins in Denmark/Norway/Netehrlands..

Some might say they were the OG European Union

Are we surprised? We can say a lot about the Queen but she was always respectful and curious about other cultures and seemingly value a deeper European identity, not just ine based on UK. As a European immigrant to the UK, I always valued that.

Also, she might have been queen if the UK but her heritage extended ti so many different countries. Harder to be a leaver when your recent roots lie in Denmark, Germany and many other places

  12. Even tho I’m not a fan of the royal family even as someone who is engliwh born and bred she knew the benefits of staying in the eu.

So Nigel Farage and your stupid comrades! Do you support our past queen, or are you just causing trouble for your country??

All of that incredible life experience and wisdom. Wish we could flick a switch and transfer it to the nation.

  15. Experienced politician and business minded woman is against economic self sabotage.

  16. Jesus Christ, this sub is hilarious for just making up shit to support their opinions. the windsors were famously thick. they all struggled to get A-levels. Interesting to know you’re all monarchists now though.

  17. It’s a bit weird looking back that when I was at my staunchest anti-monarchy phase (2000s) she was still the member of the family I had the most respect for despite being the monarch. Something about the fact she did carry a projection of continuity in a fast changing chaotic world while never really letting people in behind the curtains to spoil the illusions. To paraphrase David Attenborough her not letting her thoughts and opinions known kept the mystery of the head of the tribe alive and once the mystery is gone they lose their authority.

  18. The only people who voted Brexit are the ones that hated England and wanted to see it suffer

Only on the basis it is a spent empire with nothing to gain from delusions of grandeur playing alone on the world stage.

The Queen doesn’t lose out with all due respect to her from hordes-500k on average coming into the country. She doesn’t face GP queues, jam packed roads and a housing problem

From a different angle would Hyacinth Bouquet recognise the country today?

On balance I think Brexit was right but it was messed up by Boris Johnson and his incompetent fools thinking we were still part of Europe and still an empire sticking our nose into Ukraine and Hong Kong and ofc Israel. We just didn’t have the competence to pull it off.

Immigration has reduced somewhat but we still had to fight for it as they just swapped the EU hordes for non EU ones

I should add I am still a monarchist and small c conservative

  20. No shit. She was a diplomatic powerhouse and she wasn’t stupid.

Ol’ sausage finger Charlie ain’t a scratch on her.
