There were some energized statements during the FAA’s session for public comment.

You knew the launch pad was there when you moved in, FOAD.
This is the elephant in the room with Starship. Its launch frequency is planned to be such that it will be a near-continuous stream of one of the loudest machines ever created by humans.
You don’t even need to be at a launch to get an idea how loud Starship is. Just look at the blast waves reflecting off the steam clouds as it lifts off, or through its own plume as it’s ascending.
Right now it’s cool because it’s new and exciting. Once that wears off, there will be big problems with the noise, and I don’t know what the solution might be. Maybe the oil rig idea comes back, because launching from land will likely run into some pretty serious pushback.
You know what, I don’t care what happens to Floridians.
Good.
Some Florida residents didn’t like it when nasa was launching rockets either. Some residents hate everything other residents like.
There are many sapce enthusiasts who would gladly pay way over market value for launch front property.
Regardless of the complaints, Starship is coming to the Space Coast in Florida. This is a done deal.
I emphatize but it is what it is, either sell and move or accept it. The rocket industry can’t be put on hold over something like that. SpaceX is running circles around the entire world (literally but also figuratively), it needs to be able to develop and grow. There’s nobody who does it like they do.
When you live next to the largest Space port in the world at some point you have to accept that this is going to happen. a large majority of people living there now would have moved there with the knowledge that they where in close proximity to an active launch site. Obviously not at this scale, but as the launch industry expands more launches are inevitable.
Well, SpaceX won’t need to care what Floridians think when they get wiped out by measles.
Didnt they build an entire “Starbase” at Boca Chica for this purpose?
I remember when the rain started pouring sideways.
The wind was going blowing stuff away.
A bunch of us went towards the bridge.
After it all settled, we saw that bright glow in the distance across the water.
The glow went up and up and up.
Coolest shit ever!!!!
If we have to volunteer a state to be tribute, I can’t think of a better state than Florida.
Brevard County specifically went Trump +21 in 2024. They overwhelmingly voted for this.
