Hey helloooo,
If you’ve spotted pairs of clean-cut American dudes in white shirts and ties wandering Tbilisi’s streets like lost puppies, congratulations – you’re witnessing the latest "invasion" by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka Mormons). These aren’t harmless tourists; they’re on a mission to convert the unwary, backed by a cult built on 19th-century American delusions. Founded by a con artist who claimed golden plates from angels (spoiler: he "translated" them behind a curtain and conveniently lost them), this "religion" has a history steeped in racism – like teaching that dark skin is a curse from God, only "fixed" in the 1970s when society forced their hand. Pure madness, right? And now they’re targeting Georgia like it’s their next frontier.
Their manipulative tactics are straight out of a predator’s playbook:
– **Love-bombing**: They shower you with fake friendliness, free English lessons, or "community events" to build trust fast. It’s not kindness; it’s bait.
– **Isolation plays**: They’ll encourage you to cut ties with skeptical friends and family, framing doubt as "Satan’s influence." Classic cult move to trap you.
– **Emotional blackmail**: Stories of eternal families sound sweet until they guilt-trip you into tithing 10% of your income forever, or shunning loved ones who don’t convert.
– **Door-to-door harassment**: They prey on the vulnerable – the lonely, the curious, or those in tough spots – with scripted smiles and zero regard for "no thanks."
– **Hidden agendas**: Behind the smiles? A hierarchy that hoards billions while pushing outdated nonsense like polygamy roots (officially ditched, but the vibes linger) and a worldview that dismisses science for fairy tales.
This isn’t just annoying; it’s dangerous. In a country like ours, still shaking off Soviet-era manipulation, we don’t need imported American insanity peddling salvation through obedience and cash. If you see these missionaries cornering someone – especially the young or uninformed – intervene! Politely but firmly tell them to back off, share real facts about Mormonism’s dark side (Google "Book of Abraham fraud" or their racist doctrines for starters), and remind the potential victim they’re being played. Report aggressive proselytizing to local authorities if it crosses lines – Georgia’s not their playground.
Stay vigilant, folks. Don’t let Tbilisi become Salt Lake City East. Who’s with me in calling out this BS?

**UPDATE: For those asking “how bad can they really be?” – here are some delightful Mormon fun facts our Georgian friends should know:**
🎉 Financial Fun: The Mormon Church hoards over $100 billion in investment funds while asking struggling members for 10% of their income. That’s more cash than most countries’ GDP, but hey, God apparently needs a stock portfolio.
🎉 Racist Roots: Until 1978, Black people were banned from their priesthood because church leaders taught their skin was cursed by God. Took them until the Civil Rights era to get a “divine revelation” that racism was maybe not cool. What timing!
🎉 Women’s Rights: Mormon women can’t hold leadership positions in their church hierarchy. In 2025. In a religion that claims divine authority. Georgian babushkas have more religious power than Mormon wives.
🎉 Magic Underwear: Active Mormons wear special “temple garments” (holy underwear) 24/7 that supposedly protect them from evil. Because nothing says “modern religion” like mandatory magical underpants.
🎉 Polygamy Legacy: Their founder Joseph Smith had 30+ wives, some as young as 14. They “officially” banned polygamy in 1890 (when the US government forced them), but fundamentalist offshoots still practice it. Family values!
🎉 Tithing or Salvation: Pay 10% of your income or no temple access, no eternal family, no heaven. It’s literally pay-to-pray. Even Georgian Orthodox churches don’t hold your soul hostage for cash.
🎉 Book of Mormon Geography: Their holy book describes massive civilizations in the Americas with horses, steel, and wheels – none of which existed pre-Columbus. DNA evidence? Archaeological proof? Who needs that when you have faith!
🎉 Control Tactics: Members get “worthiness interviews” where bishops ask about masturbation, sexual history, and obedience. Adults confessing their private lives to untrained volunteers. Totally not cult-like at all.
***Georgia survived Soviet control – don’t trade it for American religious colonialism. У нас есть свои церкви, спасибо большое!***
They’re all over Armenia too, it’s so annoying. Like I’m not dropping the branch of christianity we converted to thousands of years ago for a cult from Utah, so gtfo of my country.

I will be brainwashed by Russian media instead
They are contacting people on FB i assume older generation might fall for their tricks ;//
I worked at guramishvili, and they apparently had their “head office” there, I worked next to that place as a cashier so I had to interact with them a LOT. They did
try to get me to visit them and stuff, telling me how orthodoxy is wrong and their “new church” followed Jesus’s teachings precisely, and these kinda stuff. My youtube ads are abt these Mormon stuff. We upgraded from jehova’s witnesses to these morons.
Besides Mormonism, I also saw Jehovah’s Witnesses in Tbilisi.
They are also a cult as well, except, they are a doomsday cult who are isolated from society and from the world since they believe Satan Controls it.
They also go door to door preaching. So watch out for those.
I met an American girl, let’s call her Jenny, she spoke fluent Georgian (although she did have an accent, and struggled with pronouncing ხ, ძ, ყ, ღ, წ), she seemed pretty cool, we chatted for about and hour and offered me to attend a cultural event? I said yes, and it was fucking Mormon Bible meet up 💀
Fast forward, this year in January or February I met Koreans evangelists who were also that kind of sneaky (and lord knows my weakness is cute women), she invited me to Korean culture night and before I knew it, I was attending Korean evangelical Christian service.
the most annoying thing about mormons is that majority of them i’ve met have legit been the nicest people on the planet and in this day and age where people are longing for genuine connection, it makes total sense why people wouldn’t use critical thinking and ask themselves why they’re so nice.
There’s that one guy in Marjanishvili man, he’s very annoying.
You have nothing to worry about, the region is controlled by competition
I usually see many of them in the entrances of big metro stations. They’re never alone. Always 2/3 or 4 elements commenting on people that casually pass.
Do these people work? xD I mean, as a roman catholic chill guy, I’ve never quite understood these people. They have a similar modus operandi in every country I meet them.
Anyways, it’s their option and free-will to pray to any god they wish too. You know, people usually turn to God in difficult times.
There are actually 2 Mormon churches. I recently met a young man who is teaching english here and is a Mormon.
He was much friendlier, more open minded and modern than 99% of orthodox Church cult members that I’ve met.
You all are equally brainwashed. It doesn’t matter how you call your god or what rites you perform. All churches and religions are corrupt control mechanisms, nothing more.
What’s the issue exactly? Half the country, if not more, is brainwashed by the KGB branch office we call the sapatriarqo. Worshipping a half-dead, cowardly man, ready to attack, fight, or kill anyone deemed undesirable by the church, especially minorities. At least Mormons appear non-violent lol. Ooohh and aren’t they receiving a hefty sum of the taxes we pay? Don’t their followers often pool money to buy new cars or iPhones for their “mamaos”? Isn’t half the country listening to bullshit like “women shouldn’t wear crossbody bags because the strap between their boobs turns men on,” smiling and nodding and then attacking women who do wear them? Mormons trying to convert people is the least of our problems. Honestly, some sapatriarqo brmevli would probably be better off if they actually converted.
Actually i like this.
All religions are cults and mass manipulation weapons, this way at least our Orthodox church will have some competition. Keep it up Mormons 👍
