Well yes, the BBC is ridiculously biased, moving the goalposts to give more coverage to Reform, and excluding the Greens and Lib Dems. They also portrayed Corbyn as Voldemort and Sunak as Superman.

Have they tried actually commenting on things that are happening? I don’t think they even publicly commented on the OSA for example.
You can’t cover what isn’t there.

Although I hate the fact that Farage gets to walk into studios, there are reasons how this happens –
1) He and his press office pick up their phones
2) There’s no negotiation, 16:15 at Millbank? Sure.
3) There’s no “I’ll get back to you.”
4) Thre isn’t a check with the press office to see if it can happen.
5) There isn’t a check with the press office on the subject of the interview.
Farage has made himself a very easy guest to get, the media (like every profession) love an easy ride and that is Farage. Maybe if every other party made it a *tad* easier for MPs to turn up, then they would be on any programme any time to get their message out.

BBC even lie about it or try to mislead the public. Remember an appearance by farage on QT and they introduced him as “making only his second appearance since September 2019” like he has had no coverage….reality is he was the most featured panellist over a 10 year period.

I agree that the bbc is biased but if the Lib Dem’s did something noteworthy other than going down a fucking waterslide…

If they were pro Reform it would be showing non stop videos of the protests and attacks in London. But it isn’t I agree it’s biased towards Reform but it’s not like the BBC weren’t the main people who were gaslighting us about Pakistanis grooming gangs don’t exist and the UK would spontaneously combust if we left the EU.

Reform are disproportionately represented, I’m tired of seeing Farage, the Temu Trump everywhere.

They definitely have a point. The Lib Dems are much bigger than reform and the Greens are the same size but the media seems to think reform is the largest opposition party

Farage is today’s Churchill.
I don’t even know the names of anyone in the Lib Dems, they have as much charisma as a turnip.

He is not wrong but the Tories have seemed to vanish under Badenoch, with no strong policies and a leader who has no media presence or capability. Farage is not only popular but knows how to work the media. He is not the leader of the opposition but he is acting like it. His dodgy finances and the number of Reform councillors that have already stepped down from their role also get him headlines and require a response from him. The coverage of him is excessive when you look at how many MPs and councils Reform hold compared to the Lib Dems and the Green Party, no question. The problem is that Farage not only has media connections but he has strong media training that other leaders lack.
I very much want to hear more from other parties but political discussion now demands big personalities and soundbites from too many voters. If people wanted slow, boring politics (the way politics is and should be) then Farage would be seen as more of a clown than a star. Farage is a symptom of how politics has changed over the years in the UK (and the world).

I used ChatGPT for this, as it’s far quicker, and I’m ostensibly at work.
In 2025, so far, the BBC has published 47,000 pages or articles mentioning Reform. That’s 9,400 mentions *per MP*. Per Medium.com.
In the 2024 election, despite getting 18x more MPs, the Lib Dems only got 8% of the TV coverage compared to 10% for Reform and their 4 MPs. Loughborough Uni study.
Farage has been on Question Time 38x since Reform was founded, compared to 13 appearances for Ed Davey.

Bloody right, coverage should be proportional not popularist. Just because the dumbasses soak up Reform like it’s light entertainment doesn’t mean it is solid reporting.

The BBC has said it bases political party airtime on contemporaneous polling as well as recent election results. If you think about it this a logical approach given general elections results can be up to five years old.
The problem is there is no way I am aware of to measure and scrutinise how the BBC apply their findings. Also why only the BBC? What about ITN, C4, Sky, Channel 5 and Fox UK, aka GB News?
I definitely think Reform get too much airtime and Lib Dems nowhere near. This is also an England only situation. The Tories also don’t seem to figure much, which some might say is a good thing, but is it fair?Presumably different principles apply in Scotland and Wales just to complicate things.

It might be true, but whining about it is such a soggy method of trying to improve the situation for yourself.

I’d be happy for wall to wall coverage of Farage if he’s not given the easiest time and zero scrutiny every time he’s on air and is pushed on every one of his bullshit claims and promises.

To be fair, annoying as it is, I understood Davies’ point re this. When everyone else is covering Farage, who is very good at staying newsworthy, the BBC not covering him means they lose out to competition. What they *should* be doing is challenging him and his ilk, and platforming other parties’ MPs alongside his. There’s no excuse for not doing that, particularly their seeming pretence that the Lib Dems simply aren’t there.
