Right decision, but it’s wild how Labour are falling apart. Reform are losing people every week too. The next few years are going to be interesting.

  2. Right thing to do but why back him in PMQs? Is starmer TRYING to make himself look like a moron? Is he just a moron

  3. Last Wednesday Starmer had full confidence in Rayner, by Friday she’s out.

This Wednesday Starmer had full confidence in Mandelson, by Thursday he’s out.

Who will be embroiled in scandal next week?

Hopefully we go back to appointing a qualified ambassador to the role.

I dislike external political appointments to such key roles.

  5. Wow, he managed to not be sacked for financial shenanigans this time. At least he’s branching out

  6. FlaviousTiberius on

He keeps doing this, jumps in to defend a dodgy minister, eventually the evidence becomes overwhelming, continues backing them until the media pressure becomes overwhelming then sacks them any way. It’s just entirely needless political damage he does to himself when he’d be better off just shutting up and saying “we’re looking into it” and then deciding whether or not to sack them.

  7. MalingnedMichael on

Good to see him sacked. Now investigate and prosecute him and apply this globally. Go after every one of them.

But fuck me Starmer defending him yesterday was mental.

  8. Good, but didn’t he say he had full confidence in him just the other day? Wonder what else is going to come out.

  9. Warm-Profit-775 on

Right decision but Starmer looks like an idiot after the comments he made in PMQs JUST yesterday.

  10. So he kept him on and fully backed him to ensure maximum damage when he finally sacking him

    Because, uh. What?.

Starmer’s really not very good at this, is he.

  11. Defended Rayner and then Mandelson, to then sack them in 24 hours.

They are falling apart at the seams.

Feels like having a Tory government back in power. Give these people Reform-coloured rosettes and the general public would be chomping at the bit to vote them back in. Having said that if this happened in a Reform/Tory government I doubt they would be sacked at all…

  13. Sack a career ambassador who was very popular with the existing administration.

Replace her with the sleaziest man of all time, who most of your backbenchers despise.

Make yourself look like an utter slimebag at PMQs by defending someone you appointed being best mates with a convicted sex criminal.

Then end up firing him the next day anyway – the week before a hugely important state visit by the US President.

My God. Keir Starmer has the political instincts of a fucking Pekingese. How long can he carry on like this?

  14. > Keir Starmer said leaked emails between Mandelson and Epstein showed a “materially different [relationship] from that known at the time of his appointment”.

I don’t see how they could possibly say this given Petey’s relationship with Epstein has been public knowledge for years. Anyone with even cursory knowledge of Epstein’s inner circle knows Mandelson was deeply involved with him.

This is also a big problem for Labour, as Mandelson and McSweeney have been the ‘brains’ of their project. It’s entirely likely that Mandelson will just carry on pulling the strings as per normal though.

Great news but starmer is a disgrace yesterday he said he had every but of confidence in mandelson

  16. honestly couldn’t think of a better ambassador to the US Administration than epstein’s best friend

how long till we get some classic Trump free speech bullshit to get him appointed again?

  17. Right after Starmer spent an entire PMQs defending him. What a bad look.

I voted for Labour last election thinking they’d make some mistakes given they haven’t been in power for 15 years, sure. But I am honestly appalled at the level of incompetence I’m witnessing lately. Starmer going to bat for a pedophile defender, right after going to bat for Angela Rayner dodging tax, is just… I don’t even have the words to describe how baffled I am.

  18. ThatGuyMaulicious on

lol Labour are so bad at picking there fights it’s insane. First Streeting and Labour came out defending him 2 days later they sack him.

  19. derrenbrownisawizard on

Right decision but Starmer tied himself in knots before pulling the plug.

Is ‘I have full confidence in’ this person the kiss of death?

Incompetent politics from Starmer these past few weeks.

  20. Mandelson wouldn’t have this problem IF HE WAS AMBASSADOR FOR AFGHANISTAN!

Every single man who has been in the Commons and Lords since the 1980s should be brought in for questioning now

This is absolutely sickening to the core

  21. Relative-Chain73 on

Starmer gives so mixed signals, this is right after he prayed for a person who’s so misogynistic, has said women are secon class, praises certain friend of certain someone, who is anti abortion, who has incited violence, who has said it is ok to kill innocent civilians (genocide or not, it is never ok to kill innocent civilians, kids, it is not ok to kill them by famine, by bombs, by displacing them from their safety of home, by destroying hospitals etc)

Mr PM please please take a ground and stand on it, splitting across two different high grounds is bad for your hammies, hips, glutes etc etc.

  22. ElCaminoInTheWest on

Fuck me Keir, could you go one day without a calamitous embarrassing fuckup?

Mandelson should never have been near this job in the first place. He’s a slimy crook and always has been. Backing him was completely incomprehensible.

  23. Jaded_Strain_3753 on

It’s different from the other resignations/sackings in that’s it’s pretty ridiculous he was appointed in the first place

  24. Virtual-Baseball-297 on

Not that I defend either side, but PLEASEEEEE watch Starmer at PMQ when talking about this.

    unreal 24 hours

  25. Way too late. Labour didn’t hesitate to defend a child abuser in the first place and now I will forever see Labour and the Tories as the parties that protect child predators.

  26. Bit strange to only do it when it is “discovered”.

This was called out before he was put into the job.

  27. Oh really worth standing up for him yesterday now wasn’t it! Way to make yourself look unnecessarily bad. How stupid.

  28. What a scummy nonce protecting Unionist. And Sor Kid Starver appointed him despite there being many stories of his relationship with Epstein and despite Mandleson being sacked twice before. What an utter shitemare of a fortnight for the Unionists.

  29. No_Acanthisitta_3529 on

Why was Mandelson hired in the first place given his links to Epstein? It was clear this would be politically damaging to anyone but Kid Starver and his aides. It’s one of a number of instances over the year that shows Sir U-turn has a poor sense of judgment, is so out of touch with people, his MP’s and voters, doesn’t know wtf he’s doing and doesn’t know how to govern. He should be active when he acts passively all the time (unless it’s to stifle the left of his party) like are you the Prime Minister or not? Can’t read the room properly or see the signs of a situation unfolding and proceeds to go in the wrong direction only to have to fold under pressure once it’s unquestionably obvious he or his government has done something stupid. The man is a colossal failure. The next 4 years are going to drag but I want him gone already. This government has been more ragebait for me in the past year than the Tories were in their decade and a half. What is going on in Starmer’s, his aides and the cabinets ministers empty heads to make them so continually inept and shambolic?
