Hello, where in Norway is already covered in snow by around mid December to mid January?
I had already googled but results are too mixed and not from real locals.
I want to spend my full holidays there, but snow is very important my dream. I also love the dark days.
Here is a photo for reference how much snow I wish.
I will appreciate any answers, I can travel to anywhere in the country.
Famous touristy places is not a priority, my idea is just relax in the local life.

Very hard to estimate. But perhaps Røros is a good gamble?
Your best shot at snow is at a high elevation. DNT has cabins if you’re ready to hike into the mountains
It’s a coin toss. Only thing guaranteed is darkness above the polar circle. I live at 71°N and we didn’t have proper snow until late January/early February. Lots of wet weather and ice tho😅
I live in Lillehammer and we generally have pretty stable snow from november, lasting all winter. So anywhere high up and far from the coast.
That is from Tromsø, approx february/march is your best bet for snow. At that period we curse the snow and winter.

So, your reference picture [is from Tromsø](https://maps.app.goo.gl/8xvrHpbD9kmpNsaA6). It is probably taken in February or March (this is in the morning, as we are looking directly towards the south).
Usually snowy from early November, but you can never be sure of good amounts until midwinter (Jan-Feb) and then with a peak in April. But by then it will be bright almost all day and night.

Early January 2025 we had so much snow right outside Trondheim that I had to climb the roof to remove snow so that the roof wouldn’t collapse.
I looked at my photos from dec-jan for the past few years and they all had snow
We have a mountain cabin in Oppdal in Trøndelag. It’s usually snowy there around December and January, however you can never be 100% certain of snow, as the weather in Norway is a bit unstable and may quickly switch between rain, snow, hail, sleet and ice around the start of the winter time. But seeing as our cabin is situated at 670 meters above sea level and many kilometers inland, we have a lot higher probability of snow (and stable weather conditions) than many other places in Norway.
It’s actually pretty easy to find cabins to rent here in the winter time, but it’s usually pretty costly…
When I lived in Kirkenes in Finnmark the temperatures was fairly stable and when it started snowing the snow would usually last the entire winter. Alta also has similar climate to Kirkenes.
Just a reminder that the days will be very short and probably cold so if you’re picturing a sunny winter wonderland you’ll be disappointed.
