Those are all quite good (except The Autumn Avenger, which is shit), but I think the winner was the right choice.
And yes, it’s silly; but so what? As they note in the article, if nothing else it raises a bit of public awareness of the fact that they have to use specialist equipment to remove the leaves. And if it brightens up someone’s day, what’s the harm?
With this name once the leaves are gone that will be Loss?
I really like it, it’s something everybody will understand and actually feels like the kind of name a machine should have.
I’m disappointed we didn’t get Sweepy McSweepface submitted.
Of fucking course some variations of the stupid X McXface formula got submitted. It was funny *once*. Years ago.
This reminds me of BoatyMcBoatFace saga……….asked the public to name, then disregarded the chosen name. Got named Sir David Attenborough instead
