I believe the legal age of consent rises to 18 if one party is in a position of trust
perhaps Feild timed it so the teen was *technically* no longer enrolled at school having just finished her exams.. devious man. lucky not to be in prison

While this is obviously an abuse of a position of trust, it’s misleading to write ‘teen student’.
The student’s age is never given in this article or the [court documents](https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/68c2a75d7596dbfa052bfe89/TRATMPO_Tom_Field_conduct_panel_outcome.pdf), but they slept together after going to the pub to celebrate with drinks and he isn’t charged with rape. So it seems like the ‘teen’ is actually an adult. It was irresponsible and we don’t know how pressured the student felt, but it doesn’t seem like it was paedophilia.

I had an affair with my teacher at school too, it’s a strange kind of dynamic.
I even think teachers being friends with school kids is a bit weird these days.

Well that’s all kind of horrible I didn’t need at breakfast.

back to news, the age of consent of pupil might not apply, just like a prisoner in jail has no consent, here teacher had authority and power over her so its morally wrong and against the conduct of teachers.
I blame the reddit algorithm for bringing this news on my home screen.
What business does a Pakistani have in UK sub? we got way too many issues and skeletons in our closet that we cant even shut the doors. resurgence of Taliban, lynching mobs running rampant and persecution of weak ( trans, women, minorities).
so I am sorry that I made a controversial comment about the race of the teacher and plausible reaction ( or lack of it) from Tommy Robinson’s crusade on Muslim Immigrants.
one thing that unites us all across the globe is our hypocrisy. Our outrage or sympathy is generally conditional, depending on race/ faith of perpetrator and victim. examples are too many and depressing from Ukraine to Gaza.
Now I know that Brits are far better morally than us ( Pakistanis) so I cant really judge you guys negatively but I see similarities, in Pakistan religious thugs ignore news of child abuse by mullahs but will be up in arms against love marriages and false blasphemy charges. interfaith marriages are kept a secret.
