  1. I don’t have an opinion on whether they should be banned on safety grounds.

But if they were to ban it, they should provide adequate notice so end any responsibility to compensate owners, even if that may require an 11-year notice period.

  2. This article (unfortunately put behind a paywall since I read it, but there are many similar articles around since the study)

    https://www.economist.com/science-and-technology/2025/09/17/the-health-benefits-of-sunlight-may-outweigh-the-risk-of-skin-cancer

Says the risk of skin cancer from the sun and even sun beds may actually be outweighed by a reduction in rates of numerous other cancers seen by people in the south of the U.K. and even sunbed users, vs people in the north who avoid sun exposure.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the opinions and advice on UV exposure changes drastically in the next few years.

If the beauticians actually followed the laws and stopped under 16/18 using them, there probably wouldn’t be an issue. But money before cancer

    Let government take care
Of you. They’ll tell you everything you need
To know for your own happiness and wellbeing.

    Trust them.

I would be highly against this. I understand the crazy damage they do but for someone like me who suffers from extreme psoriasis these are the only option I have to ease the pain a little bit when it flares up, trying to go through the NHS for light therapy is a joke
