Researchers in [China](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/china) are training robotic dogs for future space exploration with the goal of putting humans on the moon.

Scientists at Peking University announced over the weekend that they had tested two robotic dogs designed specifically to collect data from below the moon’s surface, which has been identified as a possible future base for humans.

According to a post on social media, the dogs were taken to a lava cave near Jingbo Lake in China’s northern Heilongjiang province.
