I just really don’t understand why they’re pig-headedly pushing through with these laws in spite of the mountain of opposition that they’re facing.
At this point, it’s like they’re being paid to lose the next election and throw the country to Reform.
They truly are the embodiment of the “Everybody disliked that” meme.

This government is authoritarian, and cannot be allowed to continue. Mass protest must go on until they are beaten.

Seems like banning protests was always the goal, taking it a step at a time to get there.

Great, clearly arresting peaceful protesters wasn’t authoritarian enough. Would be interested to see a cost/ benefit analysis of the Palestine Action policing.

I agreed with making Palestine Action a terrorist group. They attacked military infrastructure.
This is just a waste of police and court time, though. Performative protest. Redefine supporting a terrorist organisation to be something a bit more involved than holding a placard.

Really hard to scare people off voting Reform by calling them fascists when they’re more liberal than our current government on almost every issue.

They should just be thankful we’re not French. They know how to really protest

And people genuinely think Labour are any different from the Tories. Spoiler alert: they’re not.

How many more pensioners do they need to arrest before they start rethinking things?

things are getting worse every single day – and the government’s response? crack down on our rights to protest
truly scary times we’re living in

Oh yeah, so this will be used against Palestine protesters (the article makes no mention of the pal action protests despite using them for the image).
Will this be used against those terrorising people living in hotels every single week? I see shit all on the news about it, and I see shit all in the news article here. Seems that’s a minority we are happy to have live in fear.
Edit: honestly seriously? I am so enraged by people in this country, recording, harassing and screaming at people that have the misfortune to be a refuge in a run down hotel. These people have *directly* been attacking people and have *directly* been screaming “this is a Christian country” and doing f*cking Nazi salutes. This has been allowed (in Manchester might I add) week after week after week for MONTHS. We show the police the Nazi salutes – they do shit all. We show them the video of them bottling someone around the head – they’ll only do something if they get every single persons name and address at the counter. I know for a *fact* that this will never be used against them, and they’ll still scream two tier policing as soon as an officer asks them to stop swearing at minorities.
This country is really starting to show it’s rotten core for everyone to see. I am sick of it.
Edit edit: the other day a man stood in the street and screamed “f*ggot” at me and some other visibly queer people. All in front of the police. They let him stand there for over an hour screaming it. I asked them why they were letting him and they shrugged and said it wasn’t what they were there for. Apparently that’s not a breach of the peace or homophobic abuse. This country is enabling it’s greatest tossers a little more every single day.

So the people yesterday saying the nearly 500 arrests of peacefull protesters were not an attack on the right to protest are really eating their words now.
This Law allows them to ban protests if there have been protests in a place before and “Anyone who breaches these conditions will risk arrest and prosecution”. This is terrible, completely goes against British values and tradition, is authoritarian and could be easily misused to arrest anyone protesting anything. There are only so many places you can hold large protests, like city centers, when protest is banned there it is effectively banned everywhere.
I can only begin to imagine how Reform will misuse this when they get in. Its fucking scary.

This country is so fucked.
Democracy is dead if protests are made a crime.

This will be used against [Steve Bray ](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr4ner79y5lo), I have no doubt
Is this rage bait? Because if it is it’s a good one under a Labour government.
Haha and there it is. Every new protest, new broader powers. Nicely timed with the sob stories from the Police Fed Chief today
Protest is effectively illegal in the UK now
