The Source Dataset from the World Bank is a bit scrappy. Some numbers from Japan were missing a zero and I had to do some extrapolation to fix holes in the series (not for the most major countries though, the two biggies were Sweden and UK) – so it’s not perfect but gives a good picture of general trends.

Japan’s insane peak and then harsh fall off is crazy.
