A new study published in Physical Review Letters suggests that black holes might spew dark energy—and that they could help explain an intriguing conflict between different measurements of the universe.

That’s thematically consistent and actually kind of poetic.

I wonder if it would follow that inflation is therefore primal black holes
I like this idea a lot, the more that exist the faster we go weeeee
This doesn’t make sense to me. Dark energy makes everything spread further apart. But a black hole draws in everything closer to it. So how would this work?
Aren’t we not even sure if the energy is just very small black holes that we cannot see?
I prefer the theory that black holes aren’t real and are actually “Gravastars”. Look em up. Extremely fascinating. Solves problems with black holes but creates a few of its own. Also would theoretically contain enormous amounts of vacuum energy.
Sorry long time astronomy buff here, what the fuck is dark energy?
Welcome, Slaanesh, I’m ready to be your couch.
This and another article I seen here has me considering: Dark Matter is micro black holes, Dark Energy is Hawking radiation or similar .
I know thats not completely accurate to what I read but a very armchair-ish simplification. And if course none of this is proven yet/just theory.
But what I was wanting to say is, for me, it would be kind of disappointing if/when these phenomena have “mundane” explanations that don’t lead to some crazy advance. Kinda like Element Zero in Nass Effect, perhaps the discovery of dark matter would give us some stable, usable, exotic material that could great fields of negative mass or etc.
