Polish and Baltic officials have reacted furiously to what they perceive as former German Chancellor Angela Merkel partly blaming them for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Their censure of Europe’s most important politician of the last two decades has again exposed what critics say is the failure of Merkel’s approach to Russia, and further calls into question the ex-chancellor’s legacy as her flagship immigration and energy policies continue to be scorned and dismantled by her successors.

Jeez, I’m really curious what made her show up in the media again. After everything she’s done and her obvious pro-Russia stance, you’d think she’d want to keep a low profile.

This is the typical arrogance that some Western Europeans share. That they know better how to deal with Russia than those that have been dealing with them for 100s of years.

The constant repetition of these alleged statements is Russian propaganda and is intended to divide the EU and NATO partners and neighbors. She never made these statements; the accusation is taken out of context and has nothing to do with what she said.
It is frightening how easily so many people fall for this Russian campaign.
Just look the posts up from yesterday, where the real interview was translated. Don’t fall for the bots…
For a lack of a better word I lost a lot of respect/hope over this Merkelgate skandal in this sub in particular. It’s become a tool of Russian propaganda and seem to lack critical media literacy (3rd person effect, thank you very much)
Bild and Politico are both Axel Springer. It is too convenient to reject the share that e.g. German outlets like Axel Springer have in Poland but then use it as a source when it fits a narrative.

Can the admins please remove such posts please? As much as I don’t like Merkel, it was already proven she said no such things. Please, let truth prevail.

Poor guys, they need a permit from the mighty Poland and the Baltics to talk with Putin…

Its funny how well this russian manipulation worked. I suggest everyone watch that interview and quickly realise how much her ‘quote’ got twisted. Pretty wild.
