The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, said that Romania is the largest natural gas producer in Europe, with the ability to meet the internal needs and to export, a situation that will improve significantly with the beginning of the Neptun Deep deposit in the Black Sea, scheduled for 2027. Gas deposits are filled in the European average, so much of the European average. Ivan highlighted the objective of installing 12,000 megawatts in energy production and storage capacities by 2032, emphasizing the importance of Romanian gas to reduce transport costs. The Neptun Deep project, co-developed by Romgaz and OMV Petrom, involves an investment of about 4 billion euros and has estimated reserves of 100 billion cubic meters of gas. In reaction to charges regarding the prices of energy exports to the Republic of Moldova, Ivan explained that they fluctuate according to demand and supply on the free market.
